The final book in the series, we finally get to see all of the secrets brought to light, and a resolution to the situation with the council.
I will admit, I still had issues with the pacing at times, and I got frustrated with our main characters quite often, but overall I still mostly enjoyed this series.

While I feel like this one didn't quite live up to the first book in the series, I still enjoyed it.
The pace is significantly slower in this book, and it definitely took me longer to read, but it also brought in more history and detail, creating something really beautiful.
Overall, this was absolutely still a pick that left me more than ready to pick up the third and final book.

I am so sad to finish this one after all this time to be left feeling disappointed.
There's a lot.of things that bother me like Gallowglass' character arc, the introduction and small arc of Benjamin which always was weird, the inclusion and almost dismissal of the DNA info dump and it going nowhere here, the haphazard pacing and Harkness' cute wrap of the arcs without doing them proper justice.
I'm glad to put this in the rearview.

I still stand by more 4 star rating from the first time I read this one.
This book is chock-full of history, probably more than what was needed for the story but the author is a history professor so it makes a lot of sense to me that she's going to showcase her skills.

(2012) Second in the urban fantasy/romance series about a witch who stumbles across an old manuscript containing a secret about the origins of magical beings, and the vampire she falls in love with. Not usually my thing, but the first was a mild pick several years ago and I thought I might continue. But didn't until #ReadYourEboooks this month. This one was *really* not my thing (too romancey, too little forward momentum) but I did finish

We arrived in an undignified heap of witch and vampire.

Reading in bed while home sick from work, and somehow my furry companion always knows when his company is the comfort I need.

I gave it 100 pages but I really just couldn‘t get into it. And, well life is too short and there are too many other books waiting….

I‘m planning on starting this tomorrow. I think it will take a while to read, as it‘s long and the print is small limiting me to daytime reading by the window.
