Linnea in Monet's Garden | Christina Bjork
post image

Only daffodils blooming in my garden right now, but this is a #characterwithmyname. Even though mine is spelled Lynnea, I like to claim her. Monet pic from my last visit to the National Gallery in DC.

A Piece of the World | Christina Baker Kline
post image

Check out this super armchair travel list from bookpage.com blog post which includes this lovely imagining of the subject of this Andrew Wyeth painting. The quote reminds me of a message from The Poisonwood Bible that *do-gooders* aren't always doing good, in spite of best intentions. #artrelatedbooks #art #artist #readcation #staycationreads

Rodin's Lover: A Novel | Heather Webb
post image

I knew who I'd feature on #womenshistoryreads today as soon as I saw the great (if overdue) news that talented sculptor Camille Claudel finally has a museum dedicated to her work! Heather Webb's novel RODIN'S LOVER is a fascinating look at Claudel with all her strengths & flaws, and how her art was overshadowed & neglected as her mentor & lover Auguste Rodin's star rose. Such a wonderful novel for those who make art or love art of any stripe.

lynneamch The National Museum of Women in the Arts nmwa.org has some great related info. The Guerrilla Girls reframe the question: “Why haven‘t there been more great women artists throughout Western history?” Instead, they ask: “Why haven‘t more women been *considered* great artists throughout Western history?” #art #artrelatedbooks 8y

Colour Me Mindful: Seasons | Anastasia Catris
post image

My favourite #artrelatedbooks - these two colouring books! Seasons is my absolute fave because I love the Christmassy pictures and being able to colour in appropriate images for the time of year, but I love all things fantasy so Enchanted Creatures is a close second! #seasonsreadings2016 #colouringbook #coloringbook #colouringbooks #coloringbooks

Day 8: #seasonsreadings2016 #artrelatedbooks no one specified what kind of "art" and since theater is technically a form of art, here are some of my favorite art related books ??

Michelangelo | Howard Hibbard

I love Michelangelo's art. Years ago, my husband and I visited Rome while on a cruise. We were lucky enough to visit the Sistine Chapel and had time to appreciate the awesomeness of the ceiling. It truly took my breath away. This Folio Society edition provides beautiful photos of Michelangelo's numerous masterpieces. #artrelatedbooks #day8 #seasonsreadings2016

Jhullie It's overwhelming isn't it. I felt quite insignificant standing beneath it. 8y
PurpleyPumpkin @Jhullie Oh, you are so right! It was fantastic to see it IRL and I found that I was speechless. Words cannot do it justice. 8y
britt_brooke Hubby and I were there about 5 years ago. Gorgeous! 8y
PurpleyPumpkin @britt_brooke Lucky you! I so want to go back and spend more time exploring. ✈️ 8y

#artrelatedbooks I love this collection of photography trivia, the perfect type of Christmas present. A book I would never have thought to get myself but that I still dip into years later 📷
