I enjoyed this book. I learned a lot of things about languages I had never thought about before.
I had no idea what this was about when I chose it to be my book of the month.
I thought the ending dragged on a tiny bit, but it is worth a read if you have the time. It is a long one!

Since I read 4 books of her this year, I wanted to make an extra post to celebrate R F Kuang. The Poppy War trilogy moved me greatly and I‘m still thinking a lot about it. Babel was a perfect mix of fantasy & history, with great discussions about linguistics, colonialism and the need for a rebellion.

pickI just finished this magnificent book and I‘m left with awe. I will give The Poppy War another try after this. As a linguist student, I really enjoyed all the discussions on translation, and as a reader I fell in love with Robin, Ramy and Victoire, and I followed their story until the emotional end. It‘s really, really good.
