Sink or Swim | Annabeth Albert
post image

My favourite girl‘s over for a visit, and she‘s slid right back into reading buddy mode. Today we‘re gonna immerse ourselves in SINK OR SWIM, which I‘m glad the library bought. I love Annabeth Albert consistently enough that I always want to read her stuff, but I wasn‘t wild about the first book in this series (SAILOR PROOF) so I‘m glad I had the option to borrow. So far I like it more than #1 but I ain‘t sure it‘ll emerge as a fave.

CarolynM Agreed, I‘ve loved her earlier stuff, but Sailor Proof was a bit disappointing and I can‘t say I‘m keen on her new series either. I liked this one though. 1y
xicanti @CarolynM when she brings the emotion, she brings it SO WELL. When she doesn‘t, I get so bummed because I know exactly what I‘m missing out on. 1y

In a Cabin in a Wood | Robin Michal Koontz, Darcie McNally
post image

In a #cabin in the wood,
Little old man by the window stood;
Saw a rabbit hopping by, Frightened as can be.
"Help me, Help me", the rabbit said,
"Or the hunter'll shoot me dead!"
"Come little rabbit, come with me, Safely we will be."

A song rather than a poem, but today's prompt took me back to guiding camp days ❤?

TheSpineView Oh what a beautiful poem! Especially the last two lines. "It is in running from nothing
That we choose everything"

Yeats's Poems | William Butler Yeats, Warwick Gould

The Lake Isle of Innisfree
BY WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS
I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made;
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;

Cuilin There midnight‘s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet‘s wings.

I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart‘s core.
