Finished my fifth book during the #24B42020

Zane Grey books tell of a different time on the frontier but are enjoyable in many ways and I always enjoy reading them. Always feel the Romance can be central to it, love found on the edge, as well as righting or preventing a wrong. Both of these were central elements of this story. This one was published in 1920. #CenturyofBooks

The Man of the Forest | Zane Grey

As I head into the fifteenth hour of the #24B42020 Readathon, I‘m changing tempo with a Zane Grey audiobook. Time fir some cowboy action. This was published in 1920 and is one of three books I still need to read before the end of the year to complete the #CenturyofBooks Challenge

TheAromaofBooks Grey was born in Zanesville, Ohio, which is maybe 30 minutes from where I live, so every antique shop around here is inundated with his books!! 😁 They are kind of like sappy romances to me, in that I enjoy them sporadically but not as a steady diet. 5y

Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks Only Read one so far by him, Betty Zane which was enjoyable but agree based on that one you would need to read them sporadically. Must be interesting living near there. @Velvetfur 5y

Hickory Dickory Dock: A Hercule Poirot Mystery | Agatha Christie

Moving on to a Poirot book in my #24B42020 Readathon as I multitask. This book takes in 1955 in my #CenturyofBooks Challenge. 4 books to go to finish by the end of the year.

veritysalter I read a fabulous book The Golden Age of Murder, it discusses the formation of the Detection Club, their friendships and animosities, as well as their inspirations, I would definitely recommend to a fellow lover of the Golden Age. Happy reading.

These were written over sixty years ago (this one published in 1958) but I enjoyed this book a lot and didn‘t feel too dated. A good lead character and an interesting story. I will certainly be searching out more of this series. #CenturyOfBooks

Andrew65 @CarolynM Certainly enjoyed this one and will be exploring the series further. My wife who has read the first few said it took 1 or two books to find its style / pace. But she has been collecting them since. Wonder why it took 50+ years to get to tv? I wasn‘t aware of the books either beforehand. (edited) 5y

Death on the Nile: Hercule Poirot Investigates | Agatha Christie

Okay I really enjoyed this Agatha Christie Poirot Book. A great story, with some really interesting characters and love how she took the time to build up to the murder. Quite convoluted and complicated a plot working out who could possibly have done it. This has sky rocketed into the top 2 of her books that I have read. Just noticed there is a new film of it coming out next year too. Will have to watch out for that. #CenturyofBooks

Time to continue my Maigret journey. This is the third book I‘ve read in the series, and book number 18 published in 1934. Apologies for the poor cover. I‘m really enjoying this series. #CenturyOfBooks

Andrew65 @Crazeedi Maigret is a detective in France. Quite short books but enjoy the characterisation and how he solves the Murders. http://www.trussel.com/f_maig.htm 5y

Inspector Cadaver | Georges Simenon

Starting Inspector Cadaver by Georges Simenon, which is Book 25 in the Inspector Maigret Series. I am reading this for a #CenturyofBooks Challenge. This was written in 1943.

Have to say that is one #boringcover.
