I wanted to like this, but my mind drifted constantly. I just couldn't connect.

The author takes a deep dive into the history of Jesus.

I wanted something uplifting but didn't find it here. I'll stick with reading the Bible itself for inspiration.

Accessible and engaging, it argues for the New Testament‘s reliability but leans pro-Christian and skips deep counterarguments. Great for believers or curious readers, less for hardcore skeptics. Slightly dated (1998).

I started reading this with my Bible study group (years ago) and I kept telling myself I would pick it back up. It is a difficult read in which I would have to keep looking up words to even know what I was reading. With my busy life I need to be more realistic and decided to finally bail on picking this back up.
