What a strange little story this was but 2 of the most important medieval texts written by women Margery Kempe and Julian an anchoress both receiving “visions” by Christ , in today‘s modern world there are many explanations for this but one would like to believe in a miracle , very well written and incredibly researched

I apparently started reading this book like 5 years ago and then didn‘t successfully complete all 40 days of it successfully and consecutively….it‘s lines like this that reveal to me that I was a very different person with very different ideals back then!!

BRB, imma just be over here for a good long while pondering whether or not a can come into agreement with this or not…..😂🤔🤣

Itchyfeetreader I am not sure I agree. I think relationships are always worth finding a peace in or from. 1w
Chelseabillups30 @Itchyfeetreader, we may have to end up agreeing to disagree here….I think that‘s always where I start, but if I am being honest about the role I played in something and also the only one being honest about the actions of those around me, and that has happened in some recent relationships, I guess I just have the take that relationships are a two way street and when I realize some have not functioned that way, I have had to let them go. 1w
Itchyfeetreader I just got off a eleven hour flight so possibly wasn‘t making sense - I agree with you. I don‘t think the quote is correct. I am at a point where I am good with a relationship ending and not investing myself in it further but think aspirationally it‘s good to have peace with that and feel like it‘s been a choice of my own to not engage not just a reaction to the other person x 1w

What an incredible look at ancient history and what Christianity destroyed.

Recent acquisition for our personal library (not in the Litsy database yet, despite me adding it weeks ago):

📖 The Celtic Vision: Prayers and Blessings From the Outer Hebrides: Selections From the Carmina Gadelica edited by Esther De Waal

It is a great book for many reasons, raw perspectives throughout, but is a great way to start to understand atheism. St Augustine‘s Confessions lays bare the complete inadequacy of religion to answer the great questions of life – which are really no different now than they were when he was grappling with them.

There‘s so much about this book that I liked (discussion of historical, biblical women and discussion of texts where women are mentioned), and so much that I didn‘t (the sections that felt like her own testimony and an invitation as well — that part was too long). Overall, though, I‘d give this book a pick. I wish she‘d examined the biblical passages more and given us more women‘s stories. Started Cujo as my new #audiowalk book. What a change!
