Good. Full of twists and turns. Even though the story was good the ending felt a bit rushed and a bit convoluted.

Very good. Loved all the characters and how it had multiple viewpoints which helped bring the story to life. It has such a powerful message that is still relevant today even though this is set in the 1950/60's about a woman's place in the world.

Good. Full of old Hollywood glamour as it is set against the golden age of Hollywood in the 1940's and 50's. It is about how a young woman navigates growing up in this environment and how her life will become shaped by it.

Very good. Enjoyed reading a different perspective on a much told story. If you are looking for a book on the murders of Jack the Ripper then this book isn't for you as this book looks into the victims and their lives before their infamous deaths. It offers the chance for them to defend themselves against the term used for them as 'Prostitutes' . This books shows how that term was just used as a cover all term for poor women. Highly recommended.

arlenefinnigan Looking forward to reading this. Saw your post and it made me wonder whether that awful Jack The Ripper museum is still open (it is unfortunately) and one of the first thing that comes up when you Google it is a trip advisor post asking "can you take children here?"...... Ugh. 5y

This book annoyed me. I remember @LauraBeth had similar feelings, so I should have listened to her. All the characters are so catty & about nothing interesting. Elinor is obsessed with a boy that is clearly manipulative and controlling, & it's not efficiently addressed anywhere in the novel. She's so defensive about everything, naive, & I just want to yell at her through the pages! I did appreciate the power dynamics at work which is too accurate.

LauraBeth The book with all of the “ha ha ha ha” dialogue! 😂 5y
Kaylamburson Yup, that's the one!!! 🤣😂 @LauraBeth 5y
