pickIt was a really quick story. Of course, crazy, rich people teach this cat to talk, then when he doesn‘t care about their posturing and says what he wants (basically acts like a cat that can talk), they plan his assassination. Sounds like crazy, rich people everywhere, making this a lovely commentary on everything that is wrong with the upper class.

pickI adore this story even more with the annotations. Jasper‘s chapter was wild and crazy. I just can‘t help loving Laurie and Toby even more, especially with the little glimpses at the writing, inspiration, and background stuff throughout from the annotations. Toby‘s LMP recipe was hilarious. This edition is an absolute celebration of Laurie and Toby. It also promises a second book for them. I would adore that so very much!

Today, I was listening to the most recent All the Books and Liberty‘s co-host this week is a host for Book Riot‘s non-fiction podcast, For Real. This week‘s episode is a recap of the best non-fiction of 2019 so far and Liberty Hardy was a guest host in a quid pro quo. pickThis novel is an exquisite meditation on grief and mental illness. It is dark and sometimes difficult to read as a result, but so beautifully written. I highly recommend it, but don‘t read it if you‘re pregnant—wait until later. Her publishers need to get her some foreign distribution rights post-haste!
