Two Can Play | Ali Hazelwood

Two Can Play, by Ali Hazelwood (2024)

Premise: Video-game designer Viola is conflicted when she gets the chance to create a game based on her favourite novel series, on the condition that her company collaborate with its archrival, whose proposal is being led by a man who wants nothing to do with her (and who also happens to be her longstanding crush).
Cont.

Mattsbookaday Review: I have nothing to say about this. It does what a romance is supposed to do, nothing more and nothing less. Satisfying and enjoyable but entirely inconsequential

For being such a quick listen, this is a satisfying, spicy trademark Ali Hazelwood romance, perfect for sidestepping a book hangover from LOVING Deep End! I really enjoyed the setting—rival video game developer firms at a forced retreat to test if they can handle a meaningful and compelling installment of a beloved game. Fantastic!

Poppy seed and lemon is one of my favorite flavor pairings, so I had to try these muffins!

And the leftovers will make for great breakfasts when I‘m in a hurry out the door!

BooksandCoffee4Me Oh my, my sons wanted me to find a pc game because they and my husband are gamers. I told them I‘ll only play something pretty. 😂 I‘ve been playing Stardew and My Time games for almost 10 years now — haha 🤣 6d

Two knights with different world views are enemies in real life and friends and partners in a popular role playing game. There is a lot to take in but it was a fun way to receive it.

Structurally, this book is a Pick. Lots of info about the world of Eberron, and even a few sample adventures to get the campaign started. But content-wise, for me, it‘s a so-so, because Eberron is a grim, gritty noir world and I don‘t think I would enjoy a campaign there. I also skimmed most of the last two chapters.

I just remembered having read an interview with the author some time ago and went through my pile of old true crime magazines and found it. The pictures give it a quite eerie notion of the novel.

Wow, I did not expect anything like that of a novel about a computer game, but I ended up reading the almost 500 pages in two days. I could not put it down. The story is definitely fast-paced and I did immerse myself in the story like Nick did with Erebos. Hopefully, the second part will be as good as the first one. ♟️♟️♟️

I withdraw my consent from reality. I deny it my assistance. I dedicate myself to the temptations of escapism, and throw myself wholeheartedly into the endlessness of unreality.

Aims42 If I bring snacks and my own blanket, can I come escape too? This place sucks, 0/10 4w
MariaW @Aims42 Would be nice, but than you would take a bad turn - at least in the book. (edited) 4w
