What a delightful, intriguing new series introduced to me in another book.Evelyne Redfern, from A Traitor in Whitehall, is addicted to English detectives so she mentions various authors‘ she is reading. One of these is these the delightful Gideon Oliver,an anthropology professor, attends a conference on Gibraltar celebrating the anniversary of the discovery of the Gibraltar woman & her part-Neanderthal boy.But the celebration turns into a setting⬇️

kspenmoll For deadly tricks & “ accidental deaths.” Gideon, with his wife Julie as a sounding board, & a local police detective, sets out to solve these cases. 2w

Lunch time reading. This author was mentioned in A Traitor in Whitehall. Evelyne Redfern, the protagonist, was an avid reader of English mysteries. #serieslove2025

I'm desperately in need of a year that is better than this past one. At times I struggled with this book because reading about Maisie's pain reminded me of my own (very different) pain. But in the end the intricate (convoluted?) storyline drew me in and distracted me. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was an easy read but was slow in parts and didn‘t have the pay off that I hoped for.

Granta 25. Not on Litsy, have suggested it but I don‘t know how long that takes to be reviewed.

An interesting set of stories, from the gripping account of the Gibraltar killings to a murder tale in South Africa which annoyingly continues in the next issue !

Andrew65 Love Maisie. I read and enjoyed this one earlier in the Summer. Can‘t go wrong with Val McDermid either. 2y
kspenmoll @Andrew65 I may spread out reading the next few in Maisie Dobbs series to savor them I don‘t want to finish too soon! Really enjoying this McDermid. 2y

It was good to be back with Maisie Dobbs again. She is on her way back to England when she becomes involved in a murder on Gibraltar. This is a very different Maisie who is dealing with a lot of baggage life has left her with.
1st book finished for #BacklistReadathon @Clwojick @TheAromaOfBooks. I look forward to moving onto the next book. #SeriesLove2023 @TheSpineView

Spending the day catching up with Maisie Dobbs after a few years away, following her sojourn.

Couldn‘t ask for a better reading location for reading today, with the view of the beach from the campsite we are staying at in Northern Scotland.
