Finished the 5th book in the Percy Jackson series. I really enjoyed it. Always a nice, easy read that‘s fun. Also, some of you may recall I lost my kitty back in March. A little over a week ago I adopted a new fur baby. Meet Aurora (“Rory”) - she‘s pretty shy and still skittish at times but she‘s warming up nicely

Mehso-so

Meh idk. I really enjoyed the first book, but this follow up left me wanting. The obstacles felt fairly contrived, and Persephone seemed more reckless and fickle than anything. Her emotions were all over the place and I never felt like we got a satisfying explanation. Hades was barely present, and his actions seemed even more arbitrary and confusing. I doubt I‘ll bother going any further, which is a shame, because I really did enjoy book 1.

I enjoyed this. I‘m through Saint‘s retellings now & I have found that she has a good tone in her writing for all of them however then it is dependent on how much I connected with the myths themselves. Ariadne‘s story told from the perspective of Ariadne & Phaedra was very intriguing from start to finish.

My #readingbracket2025 of this month! Kind of a reading slump towards the end of the month, but still came out with lots of good books! For this month's winner we have The Tower of Nero (tagged) and for my two wild cards I have The Tyrant's Tomb and My Ishmael!

This has been on my list for awhile, and a reading challenge prompt spurred me to get to it. I really liked this feminist retelling of the myth of Atalanta. How did I not know that she sailed with the Argonauts? Patriarchy, man. 😉 The ending might not be what everyone would consider happy, but I thought it was perfect for Atalanta, whose greatest desire in life was to be free and entirely herself.

I can't believe it's almost time for the May #BookSpin draw! New to the list this month are the tagged and Red Mars. I'm still a little bit behind on my challenge reads but hopefully I'll make more progress soon.

5feet.of.fury I‘m trying to get to Ariadne next month too! it‘s the only one of hers I haven‘t read yet 1w
HeyT @5feet.of.fury Nice. I actually haven't read any of her works before. It's part of this long term goals challenge I'm doing. 1w
