One from my Troy collection. A favorite topic of mine.
pickAn interesting retelling of the siege of Troy that didn't shy away from the brutality of war & the men that fought them. Briseis is a strong narrator but her story is swallowed by Achilles & that tale we all know. Achilles & his grief for Patroclus takes over the story, I lost the women for a while but they are bought back into focus at the end. I enjoyed this book, a fair Greek mythology retelling.

Spent the afternoon reading this compelling book. The Trojan War told from the perspective of the women who found themselves enslaved in the Greek camp, do they accept this life of hardship or try to create something? This is a great retelling so far which doesn't shy way from the brutality of men.
