I loved that this book encouraged me to think for myself, to experiment and to use my intuition. I think this definitely shouldn‘t be the only source used to learn about the properties of different plants, as I think it‘s possible to go much more in depth than this book does. That said, I don‘t intend for this book to be my only resource. I love its focus on experimentation and intuition, and I was really inspired. Five stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!

Currently reading this one and really enjoying it. I‘m on track to reach my goals for the #AwesomeAugust #readathon. Read for about an hour and a half today and may read more later on.

Clare-Dragonfly I definitely hear good things about this author! 3y
Andrew65 Great 👏👏👏 3y
slategreyskies @Clare-Dragonfly I hadn‘t actually heard of her before I picked up her book, but I‘m really impressed with it so far. I like it when authors teach you and then encourage you to experiment rather than acting like their way is the only way. This author has been great for that so far, and there‘s so much knowledge in this book. If it keeps up, it‘ll be a five star read for me. :) 3y
Clare-Dragonfly I‘m glad it‘s working out better than your last witchy read 😆 3y
slategreyskies @Clare-Dragonfly me too!! 🤣🤣 3y

0/5⭐ I wanted to give the author another chance, but this book has almost all the problems I had with Keeping Her Keys, plus a few more. It cherry-picks & distorts both mythology & archaeology to present UPG (unverified personal gnosis) as fact. Then it uses that UPG (presented as fact) as the foundation for page after page of flowery reverence reminiscent of cult fervor (the modern definition of cult, not the Ancient Greek one). (cont'd)

hissingpotatoes The prologue, written as if by Medea, pits men against women, Hekate against "false" religions & "destructive" civilization, & bizarrely, witches (i.e. descendants of Hekate) against humans. (I guess Medea, the author, & other witches aren't human?!?!?!?!?!)

That's not even getting into questionable herbal information like that it's safe to ingest certain diluted essential oils or the recipes for burning or otherwise using incredibly toxic herbs.

2/5⭐ I did get some ideas from the first half of the book, & I appreciated the author's emphasis on personal development.

However, in this book you have to wade through a wide range of proofreading & logic errors. Honestly, reading Hekate's entry on Theoi.com & any other introduction to magickal practices & then putting the pieces together yourself will be more beneficial.

Help, someone please confirm I'm not losing my mind and I'm right in thinking "key" in this example is in fact a noun, not a verb...

BookmarkTavern Nope. You are completely right. It‘s used as a noun there. Off the top of my head, the only key as a verb I can think of is keying a car. 🤷🏼‍♀️ (edited) 4y
hissingpotatoes @ozma.of.oz THANK YOU. Sadly this book is increasingly falling apart 😞 4y

"Compassionate anger" is my new favorite idea, pass it on.

BookmarkTavern I like that a lot! I‘ve also really started to appreciate “Do good recklessly.” ❤️ 4y
hissingpotatoes @ozma.of.oz That's a great one too! 4y

"There is no use of female and male energy or accompanying tools. Instead, we use the underlying energies that are typically associated with either masculinity or femininity, such as aggression or kindness."

YES dividing up emotions/characteristics by gender never made sense to me in the first place. Just use the characteristic in question instead of unnecessarily masking it behind a broad and inaccurate bucket label.

Read as an #ebook. It was a beautiful read for someone who is devoted to #Hekate #Hecate. It includes some methods of practice and resources at the end. #greekmythology #hellenismos #pagan #witchcraft

This is the first translation of the Homeric Hymns (don‘t let the title deceive you - the author of this is unknown) that I‘ve read. Some #hymns had me giggling and some had me astounded by their beauty. I chose this particular passage because of its reference to #Hekate, the deity with whom I am most connected. The notes are not mine - I never write in or dog-ear books. #poetry #greekmythology #usedbooks #hecate #persephone #demeter #zeus #hades
