#WondrousWednesday @Eggs

1. An all-day cold and gentle rain. Matt and I are in the den with the windows open (of course zero rain would come inside). A warm fire would be blazing while we cozily sit on our wrap-around couch with our two GSD's, Kate & Pip on the couch with us. We'd be drinking hot-buttered rum and would be snuggled under fuzzy blankets. #sigh
2. I'm looking forward to finishing SOVEREIGN with the #ShardlakeSeriesBR.

My current reads.

I‘m not sure why the tagged book has such a low rating on here as I‘m really enjoying it. I haven‘t allowed myself to read the reviews yet though so we shall see as I get closer to the end, I guess! 😬

Suet624 Yeah, I‘m finding reviews often mess up the whole thing. If you‘re enjoying it that‘s great. (edited) 12h
rubyslippersreads I have this book; I‘ll have to read and see. 😏 11h
Cathythoughts That‘s a crazy low score 😳. Lovely inviting covers on both 🥰 2h

It is about the last queen of Lahore, Jindan Kaur. The last queen of the ruler of India's Sikh Empire, Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
The book is great with the facts and the story it gives as a whole but it lacks the writing style/lustre a story like this deserves. It is still a good book with decent story telling and a fast pace. However, I feel it would have been an amazing book, had it been written better.
Definitely a must read though!

Friendship at its finest. Homa is a women after my own heart and so admirable. The author touched lightly on the history of Iran but mainly focused on the struggle of women.

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

This happens to be all the time. I read a book, then at the end of it, I find out it's part of a series. The Vanished Days is the last book in this trilogy. The first book is The Winter Sea. The second is The Firebird. Now, I am going to have to go back and read the other two and then this one, again.

I enjoyed the love story, though it wasn't a book I couldn't put down or wait to pick up.

bookandbedandtea If it helps, it's a pretty loose trilogy. I don't think reading them out of order would matter much. 1d

After striking out several times with audiobooks, I‘m so glad this one was able to hook me! This gothic tale features a “con-artist” spiritualist who ends up forced to help the people of a rich estate figure out the mystery behind the death of the future Lady of the house. The author did a fantastic job of placing suspicion on almost everyone, and several characters had me going back and forth with blaming them. It was a rollercoaster… ⬇️

1. Very much so. I‘m big on journaling, and I have one I call my “everything journal.” I do my monthly and weekly planning in it. And I tend to write lists there as well as in my phone.

2. It seems as though nothing ever goes as planned for the protagonist in this gothic mystery that I‘ve been listening to.

The doctors weren't trying to cure these women of "hysteria" or otherwise treat it. They were making a spectacle of them for their own accolades. The book was fascinating and horrific at the same time. In some spots, it moved a little slow. The ending was awesome.
