Read some more of SCARAMOUCHE with Wesley nearby. It‘s currently my secondary book, but I think it‘ll graduate to primary when I‘ve got a little gap. It‘s fun so far. I do wish my free copy had an interesting cover, though.

I knocked a bunch of books off my TBR list last month so I'm hoping this month will be the same.
📚 Happy Reading everyone 📚

3.5 Stars • Next of Kin by John Boyne (2006) is a twisty thriller set in 1936 London. Owen Montignac, a broke aristocrat, gets snubbed in his uncle‘s will, leaving everything to his cousin Stella. Facing a huge debt to a shady casino boss, Owen schemes to steal art, blackmail, and even kill to get what he thinks is his. He ropes in Gareth, the lazy son of a judge, and things spiral into a messy web of lies and murder. ⬇️
The 3rd in this series, this story finds everyone going to a house party in the country. Then, someone is killed, of course. We meet Frances‘ mother & brother. It‘s an interesting mystery. This is a good series for me when I want a break after a serious book.
(2017) Here's a quick delicious story about young Benoit Mandelbrot, hiding with his Jewish family from the mid-20th century Make Germany Great Again crowd in Vichy France. It's a magic realist story in which math is magic -- which my math-loving heart knows to be true
Wow another hidden gem 📕 The Familiar was so good with a heck of an ending. 🥲♥️ I highly recommend! 🙌🏼
I only had 3 5 star reads in June, and I may still add the others in Wild Card spots. This tagged book was the most fun read and helped me get out of a reading slump. It is a delight!
So, I checked this book out through Libby from the library. Libby uses Kindle. Kindle puts this effing stupid pink line through the entire book. I know it‘s all because I checked out a couple more just to see and, yep, this stupid pink line. What is the purpose?
ETA: I checked Kindle on my laptop. It is not there. Only my phone. :/

Great discussion so far for The Chelsea Girls! Our next #LiteraryCrew #BuddyRead is Kent‘s historical fiction account of the last woman set to be executed in Iceland.
Read at your own pace. Discussion on July 31st. I will post periodic check-ins throughout the month. All are welcome to join! I know several are planning to join in for the discussion!

Excellent discussion yesterday, Shardlakians! We now approach the last book in the series: TOMBLAND. And it is a major chunkster: 86 chapters and close to 900 pages! That's why we'll read it in three parts; then, the length will be pretty close to what we've been doing all along. Happy reading!
