Interlude in Death | J. D. Robb

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Book 12.5: Ch.1-5: this one takes place on Olympus which is a neat change from the norm. At a police conference, a hero cop‘s bodyguard is murdered. This hero cop has it out for Roarke and Eve - since she refused to help take down her husband. But would this cop go so far as murder to get his man? This one has tricky family dynamics- as usual - but this time it‘s Roarke‘s father stepping into the mix. ⬇️

StayCurious With Eve away from her territory will she be able to solve the case and protect her man? 3h
LiseWorks We get to see more about Roarke as well. And he gets a little testy with Eve 3h

StayCurious @LiseWorks he always gets testy when it comes to his past 3h
TheAromaofBooks This was a fun way to get everyone off-planet - we still have the whole gang, but with really different dynamics since it isn't their turf. 1h
StayCurious @TheAromaofBooks especially Morris haha 1h

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Ch.15-end: things finally fell into place and connections were made between Yost, the people who hired him, Magda‘s scummy son, and yes, Roarke‘s old friend. It was a sad ending - between this and previous stories, Roarke has lost several of his links to his past. I liked seeing Summerset in his element and seeing his bond with Roarke. I‘m interested to see how things will work out for Peabody and Mcnab. ⬇️

StayCurious Our next book will be Interlude in death, a novella. First check in will be next Sunday. Hope to see you there! 1w
LiseWorks I agree about Roarke old life is just that his old life. I can't wait to see how Peabody and McNabb make out. Summersett is still a mystery. 1w
Librarybelle I‘m not reading the comments, but popping in to say I‘m still behind, however I hope to catch up soon! 1w
TheAromaofBooks I was so sad that Roarke's friend was in on it, even though I suspected he was. 1w

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong I‘m very sorry for missing last week‘s post. Forgetting to hit the renew button led to me losing access to my library ebook for a few days. I‘ve got it back now but I‘m behind so I‘m going to give myself one more week to finish (especially considering April‘s book is shorter). Sorry to those who are finished and waiting! Anyway, to briefly discuss the above 4 chapters - ⬇️

StayCurious main takeaways are that Peabody needs to make up her mind or she‘ll lose McNab. Not sure why she‘s still playing around with their feelings. I also feel frustrated for Eve over this killer and the Feds botching her operation. I‘m really confused over who is pulling the killer‘s strings. (edited) 2w
TheAromaofBooks So for April are we reading the short story Interlude in Death, and not the next full-length novel?

I also got aggravated with Peabody, but in fairness I think she thinks McNabb isn't serious about their relationship/it's just physical. But still, answering a phone call and setting a date with one guy while you're in the middle of making out with another is a bit cold 😂

Librarybelle I‘m behind too, still finishing last month‘s book—life has been complicated. Maybe I‘ll be caught up by next week! 😂 2w
StayCurious @TheAromaofBooks yes April is Interlude in death 2w
LiseWorks Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one mad at Peabody but McNab isn't helping either. 2w

#InDeathLongReadalong #IDLR Ch.6-10: someone is using a vicious killer for hire to get to Roarke, killing people who work for him. And since Roarke owns half the world there are millions of targets and no way to know who‘s next. So who is behind the contract? Who is trying to get to Roarke? And can Eve keep him in line so that he doesn‘t get himself into trouble while trying to find the culprit? ⬇️

StayCurious Some great Eve moments while she tries to take care of Roarke in these chapters. She even gets along with Summerset for a minute. 1mo
LiseWorks Yes it was interesting to see her looking after him. Even a soother came to mind. 1mo

#InDeathLongReadalong #IDLR Ch.1-5: a young maid is killed in Roarke‘s hotel by a professional killer. And Eve feels Roarke is the true target. Coincidentally, a ghost from Roarke‘s past shows up. He‘s charming for sure but Eve is keeping a close eye on Mick. I think he‘s up to something - but is he the one who hired the assassin? I‘m not sure.

Ddzmini Okay so right now I‘m laid up with a bum ankle so the good thing is I get to read all I want… the bad thing is I finished this book this morning but I‘m willing to go back and read the first 5 and make notes 🤦🏼‍♀️📖 1mo
StayCurious @Ddzmini sorry to hear about your ankle! Hope you can still join in on our discussion. We only check in once a week and there‘s no pressure. 😊 1mo

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong A challenging case where there were multiple elements to navigate - dirty cops, an avenging killer (also a cop), a crazed villain from Roarke‘s past, marital strife - Eve handled it all as she always does-with grit and determination and heart. She had compassion for her killer-and while I figured out who it was early on, I didn‘t know how things would come to a close. She and Roarke grew closer and weathered the storm.

Librarybelle I‘m a little behind reading this but hope to finish it soon! 1mo
StayCurious @Librarybelle it is a longer one 1mo

ShananigansReads Eve and Roarke really scared me for a bit in this book but I have to remember that even their anger is anchored in their love and need for each other. 1mo
LiseWorks The strife between Roarke and Eve made the relationship stronger, I think. It was very intense to read. 1mo
TheAromaofBooks The ending of this one actually had me a little choked up. “Those faces in your dreams? Have you ever thought that they were coming to thank you?“ 😢 1mo

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong I‘m very sorry for being so late with this check in. Every night this week I intended to catch up and life stubbornly got in the way. We will still finish the book on Sunday March 2. Ch.11-15: Eve and Roarke are fighting and she storms his office to hash things out. He agrees to help her take down Ricker even though he wants to take the bastard out himself - especially since Ricker comes after Eve again. ⬇️

StayCurious Eve bats up against IAB - there‘s no love lost there btw her and the Captain. But she is given the go ahead to continue her investigation. Kohlie was clean and she needs to find his killer - and stop whoever is targeting cops. And she needs to find out what is happening at Purgatory and what Ricker has to do with it. Ricker is losing control and that makes him even more dangerous. (edited) 1mo
TheAromaofBooks I had to finish this one because I was so caught up in it!! I loved this one. Some great relationship development and a good mystery. 1mo
