There are many things I like about this book including the questions about human nature, religion, and monstrosity that it addresses. At first I was annoyed by the fact that Ruth bases her whole idea of a wonderful romance on Twilight, but her world has been severely limited and it was a miracle she found that. The ending was derivative, but it fits the characters. #audiowalk. I started To Say Nothing of the Dog as my next walking book.

FlowerFairy Looks like you had a lovely walk. Grabbed this book recently on Kindle but have yet to start it. 4d

I only have three hours left, and I‘m still not positive who is responsible for some deaths yet. It‘s starting to get warmer again, but I‘m still okay in the low 80s with a breeze. #audiowalk

Well that‘s a proposal to melt a woman‘s heart: “You were always a good girl growing up and didn‘t become a slut. Marry me.” I‘d accept that in a heartbeat. 🙄. I can‘t stand most of the people in this town. Ruth and Everett keep making some pretty questionable choices. It started raining while I was walking; luckily, I‘d brought my rain jacket. #audiowalk

I really liked This Book Will Bury Me, so I thought I‘d try another Winstead book. This one was appealing to me for more than just the title (which is still a good one). I like the setting— south Louisiana — too. I used to live in Central LA, and I went to LSU. So far, I‘m liking this book a lot, although I dislike a lot of the power figures in the town. #audiowalk

I‘m not entirely sure how I can have closure without being content. But that‘s this book. I know everything I want to, ends are tied but why do I want more? More ends tied, more knowledge. But I like how this book played out and the characters. And I do like they got closure. I still want more.

Last week, I read the 11th Dave Robicheaux, which, as usual, followed the similar formula and usual themes in Dave's life. Here he finds out that his mother, who left him, + his dad inbthe 60's was killed by cops. His search for the killer finds him against corrupt police and politicians as well as a rogue hit man. Enjoyable but I did feel after 11 books, the same formula and themes are getting a little too familiar. May leave bk 12 for a while .

Just joined StoryGraph and playing around with the monthly stats. Standouts in February were definitely Small Mercies, Cold Earth and the tagged. Was able to complete three Roxane Gay books for #authoramonth

You don't have to provide a spoiler, but can someone just tell me if this book had a conclusive ending? I ask because I read the first 75 pages and bailed on it. But then I watched both seasons of the Apple TV series, which I really enjoyed, and the series ended with a vague conclusion and no Season three. Do I need to force myself to read this boring, poorly written book? This is very frustrating. 😠

Kappadeemom I looked back on my Goodreads and I gave it 3 stars, which meant it was a fine book. Nothing that would blow my socks off but not a bad read either. I read it almost 6 years ago, so I can‘t even remember the book (i read 200 books a year) but I did compare it to a Fannie Flagg book, and I love her books. 🤷‍♀️ 3mo
Rachel.Rencher I cannot remember a single detail about this book. I panned it which means I probably skimmed the ending. I'd say it's probably not worth it from my opinion. 😕 3mo
keithmalek @Rachel.Rencher It's terrible. I looked up the ending to the novel online. Now, I'm even more glad that I bailed on it. 3mo

Loved the story and ambiance of this book! Ady is such a cool character, and I wish Sanite was around a bit longer.
