pickInteresting experience listening to a Miss Marple mystery, in audio only format. In some ways the bits that are frustrating are more so, when a character is designed to be insufferable, he is now insufferable with an English accent that makes him sound like a person with a blocked nose that needs to sneeze. When the old man is being callous or the elder brother is being smarmy, I feel like it takes an age to get past the moment of unpleasantness.

so-soI'm glad for Miss Marple's having a larger and more immediate role in this twisty mystery, because all the other characters were varying shades of irritating and unpleasant, the epilogue doesn't really make up for a good bit of the behaviour seen before hand. Nastyness and pettiness and apathy, and that's before you add in some very old attitudes and prejudices. 1/2

pickAnother week of daily commute - another Afatha Christie audiobook. This time no Poirot, but a Miss Marple. I really like the story of the mysterious poison pen letters and their possible consequences. And of course, I did not see the end coming. 🙈
pickThis was an interesting Miss Marple mystery. A string of hateful letters in a village lead to a suicide, but maybe it's a murder after all? I liked the main character Jerry Burton, who is new to small town life and shocked by the proceedings. He reminded me a bit of Poirot's Captain Hastings, eager to solve the mystery but a bit in over his head
