Thanks for the tag @Eggs

1. Fun (Must be the gemini in me saying that)
2. 20s - I never realized how free I truly was until they were over
3. Pompeii by Bastille (Nostalgia is hitting hard these days)

Tagged book is my most recent read!

Hope some of the people I tagged can play along! (Sorry if you‘ve already been tagged by someone else!)

Honestly, I put this book down for a couple of months because I thought it wasn‘t as fast paced as a Hercule Poirot novel, but I picked it back up a couple of days ago and have totally changed my mind! I couldn‘t put it down!

I will definitely be reading more Miss Marple mysteries!

Today was horrid. Just too much going on. In between everything I looked at a house to rent, and my partner liked it (over video call) so that was not bad, but then the late afternoon was full of the stress of trying to get the application in on time. 🤞 Hoping I didn't just waste my money! I didn't get my walk in and my evening was mostly just spent in bed so far so I'm feeling pretty useless.

MommyWantsToReadHerBook Not Rosemary Leach but the narrator is pretty good as well 1w
ChaoticMissAdventures So sorry to hear! Hoping you can sink into good books and that housing gets sorted soon. 1w
BarbaraJean 😔 I'm so sorry it was such a terrible day! I hope the application turns out to be worthwhile! Glad for the tonic of a good book! 1w

At Bertram's Hotel | Agatha Christie

I seem to have become someone who enjoys audiobooks 🙂 I happened upon the Agatha Christies narrated beautifully by Rosemary Leach and they are very soothing on days that I'm so exhausted I can barely read. Work has been rough! I'm on leave in 2 weeks but so much still needs to be done before then. I haven't read Bertram's Hotel in years and it's been really enjoyable although I remember now why I probably kept skipping it.

Another great mystery by Ms Christie. I thought it was so interesting that Miss Marple isn't even introduced as a character until halfway through, and yet I was still riveted by the mystery! And when she does show up, she literally inserts herself into the crime scene and the detective is like, 'sure this old lady seems like she can help!' I mean, he's not wrong but... 😂

Ruthiella This is one of my favorite Miss Marple mysteries. 1mo

This is not among my favorites. It feels more like an interesting idea that Christie is exploring in writing than it does a complete story. And Miss Marple doesn't play nearly as large a role as I would prefer her to.

As I've only finished one book this week, this was an easy choice. :-)

I'm not sure the setting played much of a role in this mystery, and several of the characters feel almost extraneous, but it's a diverting story nevertheless. I like how Christie writes about aging. This one has a feel reminiscent to The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman.

When Rex Fortescue falls ill at work, he is rushed to hospital where he unfortunately dies. Inspector Neele is called & tests reveal that Fortescue was killed by taxine poisoning - a poison derived from yew trees. Fortescue's house is called 'Yew Tree House' & there is no shortage of suspects: is it the much younger second wife who is dallying with her tennis coach, or the elder son who has been arguing with his father recently, (continued)

OutsmartYourShelf or maybe the younger prodigal son who has just returned from abroad? Or is it someone else entirely? Neele is aided by the arrival of an elderly lady by the name of Miss Marple.

A thoroughly enjoyable read with the appearance of Inspector Neele (much nicer than Inspector Slack) who works well with Miss Marple. I know I've seen this one a couple of times on TV but I still couldn't remember 'whodunnit'.

OutsmartYourShelf Again, it was classic Christie with the clues laid out if you know what to look for.
4.5🌟
