Jane Eyre | Charlotte Bront

Pickpick

I read this for the first time about 6 years ago, and I loved it just as much now as I did then.

While I don‘t agree with the way Mr Rochester conducts himself at times, no-one who reads this can deny the love between him and Jane. And Jane is an excellent heroine, narrating her tale to us, the dear reader.

I‘m glad I decided to re-read this for #ThatsClassic

(Confession: I have never watched a Jane Eyre adaptation!)

Heideschrampf To me the secret of it‘s greatness is not the romantic hero but the kick-ass heroine! She doesn‘t put up with his shit. True love may be one thing, but not at any price. I love her strength and his eventual willingness to admit his faults. I just try not to think about the fact that he imprisoned his first wife... 4y
Bookworm54 @Heideschrampf definitely. She won‘t be bullied into something she believes is wrong, and acknowledges his faults as well as his strengths! 4y

veritysalter I‘ll do my best, much stress in our household as my daughter is doing her mock GCSES this week and I feel on edge with her, but they are so happy to be back at school. I hope all is well with you? @Andrew65 (edited) 4y
