Pickpick

HeLa is one of the oldest and most common cell lines used in scientific research. But she was also a black women - Henrietta Lacks - whose cancer cells were taken and used without her permission. Told in a great mix of science and memoir, this is the story of Henrietta and her cells, and the consequences of her ‘immortality‘ for her family and the world.

LeeRHarry This was a great book - so compulsively readable 😊 3y
JennyM @LeeRHarry I though the author did a wonderful job - I got quite emotional in parts. Thank goodness for modern day ethics committees! 3y
Megabooks Great choice! 3y

Jeg We did this for book club. I was blown away. I had heard somewhere about someone‘s cells still being used for research but I had no idea of the background. 3y
Kalalalatja Great review, and good idea for the prompt 👍 3y
