I can honestly say that to begin with I really struggled with this. Once I got past the half way mark it was a whole different ball game! I started to enjoy it a lot more. There are a lot of characters and multi faceted stories all intertwined so at times it is hard to keep up if not focused. All in all it turned out to be an enjoyable read and I am definitely pleased I saw this through to the end. #onceuponariver #justfinished #threestars

Absolutely superb ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Such an enchanting tale and easily the most beautifully written book I have ever had the privilege to read. Diane Setterfield is truly an artist and has used her words to paint a masterpiece on my mind‘s canvas. This story truly touched my heart and my mind and I am so grateful to Setterfield for bringing this book into existence.

Rich with atmosphere and folklore, writing that flows-it was easy to get caught up in the lives at Swans Inn. Rita Sunday, a nurse who grew up in a convent. My favorite was Robert Armstrong and his horse fleet.
Highly recommended.
