Unpopular opinion, but this one just didn‘t hold my interest. The Man Who Died Twice became available from the library, so I downloaded this one to listen to it first. It wasn‘t necessarily bad, but I had a hard time keeping track of all of the characters on audio, and ultimately found myself not really caring, so I bailed…

It is so great to read a book that‘s gotten a lot of buzz and find that it is thoroughly enjoyable. The dialogue is full of humor without being cloying. The central characters, living in an upscale retirement village, are older (as am I) but whip smart, with great back stories. They gather to discuss cold murder cases. Bit of a trope, but it works here. When someone kills the smarmy owner they investigate. Good twists, fun plot, great read.

In a quiet retirement community, the Thursday Murder Club examines and solves cold cases. Everything changes when the body of a real estate developer drops.

This was fun, but a little weird. We change POV very often, and there end up being multiple mysteries that interconnect and then separate. The characters were all interesting, although I didn‘t like Elizabeth. This did give me Christie vibes, focusing on people rather than clues. 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

A quintessentially British cozy murder mystery. Full of well developed and likeable characters. I did not find events confusing, as other reviewers have said - however I‘m a pretty slow reader, so I really digest what I‘m reading before moving on.

Lighthearted British humour throughout, also with some very poignant truths that had me nodding my head at the wisdom. I would definitely read the others in the series.

I am not usually a series guy but as soon as I finished this on I borrowed the second. This book is funny and tender as well as a very involved murder mystery set in a posh English retirement community. I looked forward to talking about it with my retirement community book club & though we filled up an hour I could‘ve gone on for another digging into Osman‘s depiction of elders & dementia as a unique plot device (as well as salmon-stealing ploy).

KathyWheeler I love this series. As an older person, it‘s nice to see people even older depicted as vital and fun. A third book is being released in September! 2mo

This is my wheelhouse. A cosy murder with some depth in terms of characters. This had twists and spins and also had a warmth from the characters. One quibble - It did have a little bit too many characters in it and (especially towards the end) I had to try and recollect who someone was.

This was a fun read. It was a bit dry, but I enjoyed the story. May or may not continue with the series. I was in a major reading slump, but breaking out of it in this vacation! 4 books done this week. Will post more reviews later.

Could this book have been any more charming? Likely not. A quartet of residents of a retirement community who like to get together and attempt to solve cold murder cases find themselves with a current murder to solve. Everyone around them may underestimate them and think they are too old but this group has the skills and experience to get the job done. Such a fun read and the sequel advances to the top of my TBR.

This struck a good balance of being light, but not too light, like if Fredrik Backman wrote a mystery. I've been reading the Flavia da Luce books, about an 11-year-old British sleuth, so it was fun switching to this story about amateur British sleuths in their 70's.

This was a delight, but also bittersweet, as I know my mom, a great mystery fan (& who reminds me of the lovely Joyce), would've loved it. Before she passed away last month, she, like the club members of the title, turned her considerable charm & intelligence to keeping track of everything & everyone in the assisted living home where she lived after my father died. Like her, this is also charming & intelligent & the start of a great new series.

Just finished reading this book and have to say, though it was quite slow for me at the start, it was a lovely read in the end. The characters were really sweet and it makes me wish that I too will have such a cool set of friends when I‘m in my seventies.

Apart from Joyce, I picture Bogdan to be this teddy bear that you can‘t resist giving a big hug to.

All in all, enjoyed reading the great wits of the characters and their subtle humour.

Audio may be the way to go here. I think I missed a bunch of jokes since my American internal narrator (in other words, — me!) just didn‘t pick up on all the funny bits. However, I loved this and am looking forward to reading book 2. Only thing is: I‘m worried my favorite characters will die in future books and I won‘t be able to deal? I guess that‘s a risk we all face!

Switched back and forth between print and audio loans. Narration was excellent. As you can see things are really greening up here in Oklahoma. I love watching the changes of the woods behind my house. As I spend more and more time outside a good audiobook is a must.

I have a couple of weeks before 2nd in Series is due back at the Library so I'll wait a few days before starting. When I Binge Read things tend to run together. Pausing lets the story settle in my mind. But I'm really looking forward to The Man Who Died Twice! And then I'll be ready for Book 3 - The Bullet That Missed release in September. 🕵🏻‍♀️

4 friends in a retirement village who discuss police cold cases find themselves with a present-day case to investigate when a shady developer who is being cut out of plans to expand the village is murdered.

I found the humour rather relentless at first but once the murder happened and the investigation got underway, the book settled down into a good mystery with a side-serving of humour. Looking forward to the next one, but maybe not just yet.
