An excellent talk from Saeed Jones and CJ Evans about apocalyptic poetry.
We had fun this last weekend at the #pdxbookfest and attended a reading by Ibtihaj Muhammad of her new picture book. We loved this story about being yourself and a young girl‘s first day at school wearing hijab.
Also, wonderful to hear more about the life of this determined Olympian, and the first Muslim-American to compete while wearing hijab, and the first Muslim-American to medal.

I did mighty well #in2018, if I might say so!
Some highlights of 2018:
⭐️112 books (so far)
⭐️Went to #Yallwest and #PDXBookFest
⭐️Met TONS of authors (v. lucky we get lots of signings here) including some faves: Ruth Ware, Grady Hendrix, V.E. Schwab, Josh Malerman, Jay Kristoff, Emily Suvada (again)
⭐️Met some Littens in person too, and made new bookish friends
If I didn‘t have my bookish life, I couldn‘t survive the rest of it honestly 💗
Great book event in Portland today! In addition to a pop up poetry reading by Wendy Chen and the book sale, I attended ‘This is America: Race and Family‘ with authors Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, Nicole Chung and Luis Alberto Urrea as well as ‘Dangerous Places: Women and Power‘ with Lauren Groff and Rachel Kushner. All were fantastic. (I started reading ‘Florida‘ while in line —I‘m excited to read more tonight!) #PortlandBookFestival #pdxbookfest
Had the best time at the Portland book festival! Met several local writers and a few big celebrity writers and got 10, yes 10! autographed books!!!!

I was also excited to meet the tagged author but when I got to the place where the panel was happening they said she wasn‘t here due to being sick. Hope she feels better!

This panel was amazing! From left to right: Elizabeth Acevedo, Brendan Kiely, Nova Ren Suma, and Emily Suvada.
Brendan talked about his book Tradition and I just ordered it on amazon! Sounds amazing. And preorders Elizabeth‘s next book.
