I enjoyed the dual focus in this biography, charting the life of two sisters who would go on to lead such different lives. Equal weight was given to both Elizabeth and Margaret's stories as the book started, but the latter portion seemed devoted to Margaret's later year solely. Devotees of The Crown may not find tons of new information, but it was still a solid read. #RoyalRead

A handful of my May reads. Starting Emma with the #PemberLittens and A Tale of Two Cities for #WhatTheDickens. My BFF and I are exploring the early life Prince Phillip for our #RoyalRead selection, and my personal #PersephonePick of the month will be The Children Who Lived in a Barn. Looking forward to a month of great reading! #PersephoneBooks

I give this book high marks not because it's totally fantastic, but because it is exactly what you suspect it is- a light look at Harry and Meghan's relationship and a rather one-sided account of their difficulties within the Royal Family. It can be eye-rollingly flattering on Meghan's side, but in not taking it too seriously, it was an interesting look behind the curtain at two people trying to navigate a system stacked against them. #RoyalRead

Behold, this month's #RoyalRead! It's a big jump chronologically from the first two installments of our read-along, and also a shift in tone from the more historical bent of where we started. The Washington Post called this book "354 pages of sorbet" and honestly? That's what I'm needing right about now! #CurrentlyReading

My best friend and I are doing a year-long buddy read of books inspired by The Crown and our read for Feb is the tagged volume by Deborah Cadbury. So far it's wonderfully thorough and well-written but it gets extra kudos for teaching me about the Finnish Ski Troops of WW2. *HOW* am I just learning of this?? I stalled out on this a couple of years ago, but as my best friend and I do a year-long #RoyalRead, inspired by The Crown, we're making it our February selection. I'm looking forward to finishing it this time!
