Why did I pick up a time travel book when i hate reading time travel narratives? Not for me. It didn‘t help that the main character was fun and smart in one narrative and whiny and impulsively stupid in the other. No more time travel tales for me.

I liked the premise of this book and loved the ending, but it ended up being a little heavier than I expected. Part of the heaviness was more personal to me, which certainly made it harder, but without fail, as I had that trigger while listening, I saw a beautiful rainbow all the way home.

Declan and Carol live happily together but when he is diagnosed with dementia his sons from a previous marriage decide to put him in a nursing home and sell the family home, leaving Carol homeless. Her mom is not willing to let the matters rest and is determined to investigate the dark secrets of Declan's past. A mystery with charming characters peppered with Graham Norton's humor. An easy enjoyable read that kept me hooked until the end. 🧶 📚
This is an excellent YA sci-fi speculative fiction story. A family camps in #Greenland so the father can study climate change while the mother writes about mitochondrial DNA while son explores the land. But nothing is as it seems and it all unravels when the son discovers a colony of people living underground for generations, who will lose their home as the climate warms. Told from two perspectives of the above- and below-world, I enjoyed the ⬇️
Not sure how I feel about this one. It had a great premise & the characters were somewhat relatable, but some parts dragged on. It felt super confusing at points because of certain plot points (don‘t want to spoil it). It was like too much was going on, but then it all came together when the big reveal happened & everything sort of clicked into place. I did not love the ending as a whole - certain parts were good. Overall I would recommend

Excruciating slow and terrible. The last 30 pages brings everything together but it barely makes sense and in no way makes up for the lethargic pace.
#roll100 a darkly comic domestic ‘thriller‘ - always enjoy Graham Norton‘s fiction
Poking around for a new Audiobook I found this YA book set in #Greenland. So it‘s up next for #foodandlit @Catsandbooks
I was really looking forward to this book because I love her other books. Sadly it didn‘t live up to my expectations. It was not as thriller like as I wanted it to be and the ending was a little bit of a let down. That is not to say it was a bad book - I enjoyed it and found it to be a good story with a good plot and characters who I loved. There were a few twists I was not expecting and that I found surprising. Overall I would recommend!
