I actually finished this a couple weeks ago. Not my favorite by Hendrix but still a really good read. Has some creepy moments.

A Faustian tale that isn't really about Faust so much as his bandmate who has to live with the aftermath of his bargain. It's not really about the tragedy of giving into temptation so much as the vacuum of being 'soulless'. When heavy metal becomes nu metal and gets taken over by corporate overlords, it's not mortal sin, just sad. Thankfully this novel has plenty of soul: it's darkly funny and fast-paced 👇

I finally finished my #SexDrugsandRockAndRoll book for #titlesandtunes. The last few chapters were hard to get through because of how honest it became. Reading about Mayte's hopes of living with the love of her life for the rest of her life to only be betrayed and heartbroken, to losing her baby, to getting her daughter was very emotional. Despite everything she went through, she still respects and admires Prince. 4.5⭐️

This was an interesting book. Lots of stuff I didn‘t know about Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain. Would recommend to music fans.

Very readable, enjoyable fantasy about a sophisticated older woman & a spectacularly beautiful, immensely charming, unbelievably mature 20 year old leader of a world famous boy band. The woman & the descriptions of fame were all very convincing but, delightful though the character was, the boy was just too good to be true. There was masses of (oddly unerotic) sex, some drugs, but not what I call rocknroll.

This book! Two timelines. One Italian villa. Secrets. Lies. Murder. Tragedy.

1970‘s - Five musicians living the #SexDrugsAndRockandRoll lifestyle at a villa in Italy.

Present Day - Two best friends, both authors, take a girls‘ trip to Italy to work on their books. They stay in the same villa.

The two plot lines overlap and intertwine in fascinating ways. Who can be trusted? Who is lying? Great reading!

I loved this book. This is the tale of the fictional British folk band, Windhollow Faire, and their recording of their album at Wylding Hall. And the disappearance of their singer/guitar player Julian ❤️
I listened to the audiobook version, and it was fantastic. There were multiple narrators, and the whole atmosphere of the book was very Stevie Nicks 🖤

This is such a bleak, nihilistic novel & I think when it arrived on the scene in 1985 it would have caused shock waves. The 80s I recall as a toddler was full of campy excess; this is resoundingly minimalist, with a young narrator already jaded beyond imagination. The events & actions around him are horrifying as hell; sex & drugs are mainly means of enacting violence or avoiding life. A good, scary read. #TitlesAndTunes #SexDrugsAndRockandRoll
