This was book that was just my cup of Yorkshire tea, set in Sheffield from 74 to 94, its the story of the sellers + the glovers, the former move up from London as a crisis hits the latter. The parents and 5 children's lives intertwine over 20 years to sometimes comic, emotional and compulsive effect. A wonderful story of a city close to my heart 5*

Cinfhen Wonderful ❤️ 4y
TrishB Oh stacked, sounds fab 👍🏻 4y
Ncostell I read this book years ago and still think of it from time to time. It was a great read! 4y

Cathythoughts Hi Andrew, I really enjoy your chat with Jenny @ReadingEnvy ... there was such a natural conversational flow. My friend from Manchester ( she lives in Cork ) listened & enjoyed too ... she has the same accent as you , I wasn‘t sure where you lived , but my friend confirmed it to be a Manchester accent .. I love it. I‘m going to get Old School , I love school/college settings too. Thanks to you & Jenny for a great podcast , nice one 👍🏻 4y
andrew61 @Cathythoughts thanks so much cathy, i was a bit nervous about it as whilst my job involves a lot of talking this was a bit out of my comfort zone but jenny was so easy to talk to that it felt like a chat over a pint with a friend. 4y
Cathythoughts And it came across just like that too! A pint with a friend. Thanks too for saying Litsy is a lovely community, because it is & it was nice to hear you say that 4y
ReadingEnvy @Cathythoughts thank you for listening - if you ever want to be a guest I'd love that! I'm scheduling 2021 right now. 4y
ReadingEnvy I think I started paying attention to the Booker list the year after this book. So I've never heard of it but it sounds good 4y
Cathythoughts @ReadingEnvy Thanks for your kind offer , My husband is the talker in our relationship 😁, I‘d be a bit too nervous just now... maybe in the future when I‘ve read more books X. I Really enjoyed this podcast , so good 👍🏻 4y
Cathythoughts @ReadingEnvy yes I just ordered this tagged book 👍🏻 4y
ReadingEnvy @Cathythoughts 🤪💃I always try to ask! 4y
Cathythoughts @ReadingEnvy Thankyou 😘 4y

Finding a book for the prompt of United kingdom was never going to be an issue given my love of historical fiction. The problem was always going to be which one to choose. In the end I picked this book because it us partially set in Sheffield which is where I lived in the late 90s for four years

Changeling | Philippa Gregory
post image

In preparation for seeing Philippa Gregory talk as part of her Dark Tracks tour at the start of February, I have begun my quest to read the first 3 instalments of the Order of Darkness series. I am a massive fan of her Tudor/War of the Roses series‘ so I am looking forward to finding out how her own stories compare to her historical fiction #Philippagregory #Darktracks #Orderofdarkness #Changeling #Stormbringers #Foolsgold #Sheffield

Sheffield, in dem Buch kommt Sheffield vor❣️(Auf Seite 30)

Vielleicht stimmt mich das versöhnlich.
