pickThis book has been on my wishlist for so long! And thanks to #roll100 I finally got to read it ❤️
This is such a beautiful and touching story. It's about humanity, nature, life, connection and the love that is all around us. There were some hard to read scenes, but sadly that's how humans treat each other. How we treat nature, animals and the planet we live on...
But still, as long as there's love, there's also hope ❤️

Another lucky roll with #roll100 because this book has been on my TBR list for the longest 😁 I've once started listening to the audio book, but it was so badly read, that I ditched it after a couple of minutes...

pickI read this pick from my #AuldLangSpines list from @Cinfhen and it was so good. It was well written and helped me learn about the healthcare workers who fought the virus so hard. The last chapter of this book, written before COVID-19, was pretty prescient about the pandemic to come. I‘m not sure if this Ebola outbreak was technically a pandemic or an epidemic but I‘m counting it for #Booked about a pandemic

Preston traces the history of Ebola & examines its origins through the telling of personal narratives. It‘s such a powerful first hand account. Once again I‘m awed by the medical workers, specifically nurses & doctors who risk their lives in order to save, treat & care for others. Outstanding audio.
“My childhood had gone by without my knowing, and it seemed as if my heart had frozen.” Beahs childhood was taken away from him due to conflict and how he was forced to grow up quickly in order to survive (Beah 150).
“We must strive to be like the moon” Beah can be suggesting that we can find inspiration for inner peace in the world, specifically the moon (Beah 231).
