#LittensLoveSJM #TOG Book 2 Ch 10-12: has Celaena lost her edge? I feel like she should be better than getting poisoned by a mark/she should anticipate these types of things. Now the question is- did Archer set her up? Or is he innocent in the whole thing? And why did his client have that book? Too bad she couldn‘t have brought it to Nehemia to translate. Thank heavens Celaena made it to Chaol - one of the only people she could trust to help her.

BarkingMadRead That was so stressful, and really not good for an assassin to get caught like that! 15h
mcctrish I wondered about Archer too 14h
See All 7 Comments
Butterfinger It was hard to get through the trafficking part. And, how many names does that girl have? 13h
Littlewolf1 She always tends to be reckless, and seems to have an “ I can‘t be touched” mentality. But that has gotten her into trouble in the past, and the reason why she lost Sam. While I don‘t like the fact that she got hurt, I think she needed a reminder that she is human and needs to be more careful, because she‘s not the only one at risk if she gets caught. 8h
5feet.of.fury Agree about Archer, that seemed like really convenient timing. Celaena def got too cocky. 4h
Roary47 Is Archer really still her friend? There is something deeper here, but maybe someone else recognized her with him. So glad she made it to Choal. 😥 11m

#LittensLoveSJM #TOG Book 2 Ch.7-9: Celaena has decided to look into what the King‘s up to. Just because she finds out his plans doesn‘t mean she has to be the one to stop him. Right? Haha, she‘s funny because she‘s trying so hard to stay out of the intrigue. But the intrigue keeps finding her. I felt bad for Kaltain - she has been used and abused by Perrington and - although she may have had bad intentions, ⬇️

StayCurious I can‘t help but feel bad that she‘s rotting away in that prison. I‘m intrigued about what Celaena will say to Archer when she sees him. How to warn him and also gain info? He probably won‘t trust her since she works for the king. 2d
LiseWorks Yeah, I feel bad for Kaltain, too! She is an addict who lost her way, and now Perrington is abusing her even in prison. 2d

5feet.of.fury It really shows Celaenas good nature that she feels empathy towards Kaltain. 2d
BarkingMadRead I can‘t wait to see how it goes with Archer 2d
Roary47 Poor Kaltain. 💔 Also excited to see what comes next. 2d
Littlewolf1 I still feel really bad for Dorian. He feels absolutely betrayed, and Celaena has never been really good at accountability, she‘s working on it, but she‘s not there yet. It‘s hard for me to discuss Kaitlyn though because this is a reread for me as I loved the series and I wanted to go through it again. But I will say she‘s going through it right now, and no one should have to live that life. 2d
mcctrish @Littlewolf1 it‘s a reread for me too but I can‘t remember anything much. I want to say Perrington is still going to visit Kaltain to exert magical influence over her and keep her befuddled ( not sexually exploit her which it kind of reads like) @LiseWorks I feel like her addiction is in reaction the the pressure of the magic on her and I vaguely remember the king and Peri talking about further uses for K somehow 2d
Butterfinger I know Kaltain was a brat, but I can't stand to see her so broken. I hope she is rescued before those headaches kill her. Before, the reader could tell she was being manipulated by Perrington. Now, they are being maliciously secretive with drugs or magic to keep her under their thumb. 1d

#LittensLoveSJM #TOG Book 2 Ch.4-6: I liked in these chapters how we got glimpses into Celaena‘s past - we learn a bit more about Sam, and a few other characters from the underworld Celaena was a part of. Poor thing is so against being a part of something bigger - she revolts at the thought of fate. That she could be something bigger than herself. She just wants to get her freedom and hide out for the rest of her life. ⬇️

StayCurious And who can blame her after what she went through. But life has other plans and deep down she knows it. Are we sad that she‘s pushing Dorian away? Are we worried about the trouble Roland will bring? Do we like Chaol for her? I‘m torn. 3d
LiseWorks I'm sad she is pushing Dorian away. Roland is trouble. 3d

mcctrish Realistically Chaol is a better partner and could maybe help her in her quest, Roland is bad news. The triangle grates on me but truthfully they are all too young to be thinking about love matches 👵🏻😆 3d
Read4life I honestly go back and forth between Chaol and Dorian. Roland seems like trouble. 3d
StayCurious @mcctrish I was surprised Chaol had such an important job at 22 3d
mcctrish And he‘s never killed anybody until Cain #notbelievable 3d
Butterfinger I think of them as three friends who care so much for each other. Goodness, she was getting mad at that doorknob, but it reminded me that we didn't have any more positive scenes of magic since those flower petals at the opening of her tent. Other than Nemehiah was doing. 3d
mcctrish @Butterfinger yes, on all counts. So the magic in/around the castle was worked before the ban and is stronger so still present. Those onyx rings the king and Perrington wear must be similar magic. I wonder if the hit list contains anyone who has magical inclinations ? 3d
Littlewolf1 @LiseWorks I agree, he was always there for her and, i know she is doing it to protect herself and hime, but its leaves him so confused. 2d
Roary47 I agree with @mcctrish I think Chaol is a better more logical partner for her and I‘ve been #TeamChaol this whole time. I noticed that she stated she did miss Dorian as a friend. @Butterfinger I laughed so hard at the doorknob. It reminded me of the doorknob in Alice in Wonderland (So I love the meme). Roland is definitely someone we should keep our eyes on 👀. (edited) 2d

#LittensLoveSJM #TOG Book 2 Ch.1-3: Ooh Celaena is playing a dangerous game. How long can she keep sparing the King‘s targets? One of them is bound to come back from the dead at some point. But I also admire her bravery. Will she ever be able to tell Chaol and Dorian? Can she trust them? I am intrigued to learn more about this Archer character. ⬇️

StayCurious Will Celaena be able to keep her mind focused around someone she used to like and admire? I was surprised she wasn‘t completely open with Nehemia. If anyone should know what she‘s up to it should be her I‘d think. 4d
mcctrish It‘s Dorian and Chaol are so squeamish over the deaths it‘s funny 4d
See All 11 Comments
StayCurious @mcctrish seriously - never saw a more squeamish captain of the guard 4d
5feet.of.fury I kind of wish we weren‘t told so early that she wasn‘t killing them, it would have been neat if that was a big reveal down the line 4d
LiseWorks I am worried that she will be found out. Do you think Chaol suspects something ? 4d
Roary47 @5feet.of.fury I agree, I wish we wouldn‘t have known so early. I also feel relief that she isn‘t actually killing them. It helps me solidify who I feel she is after reading the first book. She is making allies that can hopefully help her if this plan goes south. (edited) 4d
Butterfinger @5feet.of.fury @Roary47 I was sort of glad it was revealed in the 2nd chapter. I guess I am squeamish like the boys, and I just didn't like the thought of a character who I like doing something so ugly. She seems to me to be scared of being part of any rebellion. I want to know why. Is it to protect her friends or what she experienced as a child? And, I further think she is being rebellious by allowing the targets to escape. 4d
Littlewolf1 Hope you don‘t mind, but I‘m jumping in this with you guys kind of last minute. I‘ve been meaning to do this re-read for a while and got stuck after book one, so this is perfect timing. 3d
StayCurious @Littlewolf1 welcome! We‘d love to have you! 3d
BarkingMadRead I was glad to see that she wasn‘t killing them, I hate that she has to pretend to Chaol and Nehemia 3d

Pickpick

#LittensLoveSJM #TOG Book 1 Ch.52-end: Well, we already knew he was up to no good, but now we know that Perrington is in league with the King and they are up to their elbows in dark magic. No wonder the King banned magic in his kingdom, if only so he can be the most powerful person around. Celaena better be careful and so should Nehemia. Even Dorian needs to tread carefully where his father is concerned. ⬇️

StayCurious I look forward to seeing what happens next and what is in store for our characters. This was overall a good start to the series. There were a few weak spots - such as the tournament really not being used to its full advantage - but I‘m intrigued in this world and I like the main character and am rooting for her. I will post a schedule for book 2 shortly. 1w
BarkingMadRead That was a good ending, leaves you wanting that next book right away 1w

5feet.of.fury We‘ll see how Celaena can get out from under the King‘s thumb after his threats against her friends. Glad she broke it off with Dorian, although we‘ll see how that goes in the long run. Excited for book 2! 1w
mcctrish @BarkingMadRead for real!!!! @5feet.of.fury I‘m sure there‘s going to be some serious tension and teeth gnashing over the King‘s demands of Celeana 1w
Laughterhp Yes! Loved how the book ended and I‘m definitely intrigued. Looking forward to the next book and see what happens. 1w
Roary47 Even though they put K in prison they have plans to use her more. I hope Celeana doesn‘t fall for any of her tricks when that happens. 1w
Read4life I agree that the ending left me wanting to dive into book 2. The tournament could have had better coverage in the story, but I like how SJM writes her characters both main and supporting. 1w

This is a great start to this series. I love the action, and I was wincing at some parts. I wanted more trials, I think. I'm rooting for Dorian in the love triangle. Thanks for hosting #LittensLove SJM #TOG @StayCurious Those Memes make my day. #ISpyBingoMay @TheAromaofBooks #SeriesLove25 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView @Read2025 @DieAReader

#LittensLoveSJM #TOG Book 1 Ch.49-51: Wow, what an intense duel between Cain and Celaena (and Nehemia and Elena vs demons). In the aftermath Nehemia tells Celaena her secrets (she‘s super badass) and it is alluded to again that Celaena has magic in her blood. Dorian stands up a bit to his father and Chaol won‘t be punished for killing Cain, even though Cain was acting out what the king wanted. ⬇️

StayCurious Kaltain got the shaft and will probably be killed or imprisoned. I feel a bit bad considering she was used by Perrington. Here‘s hoping the duke gets his later on. We‘re almost finished the first book - we‘ll read the rest tomorrow! 1w
Laughterhp I finished the book last night! I‘m glad Choal stepped in and saved Caelena. 1w

BarkingMadRead Omg so many answers and so many questions! 1w
5feet.of.fury Can‘t say I feel bad for Kaltain. Good riddance. But what‘s gonna happen to Chaol?? 1w
mcctrish @5feet.of.fury can‘t say I do either ( I do hope Perrington and the King get their just rewards sooner than later though) 1w
LiseWorks Perrinton I hope I spelled it right, is a jackass! 1w
Roary47 I‘m still #teamchoal Dorian didn‘t stand up for her or help her when she was obviously losing her fight. Choal was literally on the sidelines encouraging her. I‘m glad K got what she deserved, but also feel a bit bad. Perrington needs to be next. I‘m glad Choal didn‘t get in trouble, but have a feeling he will in the end no matter what the king said. Now that I‘m done discussing I‘m going to go finish it. 🤭 1w
Butterfinger I lost my phone last week. I love the women in this book. I even hope Kaltain has a redemption arc after being manipulated by the king. 1w

#LittensLoveSJM #TOG Book 1 Ch.46-48: Wow I‘m so outraged on Celaena‘s behalf! We knew Perrington and Kaltain had arranged to drug her during the duel but to think that they actually pulled it off…so many emotions right now. How will she pull through and how can she prove what they did? Really tense chapters as we near the end.

mcctrish I just want to say I‘m proud of me for not reading ahead because this is INTENSE 2w
Laughterhp I read ahead. 🫣 but mostly because my kindle has been on airplane mode because my hold expired 2 weeks ago for this book and I want to turn it off lol. However, I‘m so mad they actually poisoned her and she didn‘t expect anything! Why did she drink anything Kaltain gave her?! 2w

BarkingMadRead @Laughterhp I finished days ago 🙈 I was so mad that they poisoned her, wt actual f?!? 2w
LiseWorks I was proud of myself for not reading ahead. The fight was so intense that I was wincing with every blow. And how come Cain was saying all those nasty things about and to her. 1w
Roary47 First I love the “Emperors new groove” meme! I agree with everyone. How low can you go to poison someone to make sure the other dude wins. This would be a compliment if the stakes were not so high! I missed this check in so I sort of read ahead. 😅 1w
