#TeamBetty isn‘t so easy to shout when it‘s 2018 & you know that pitting women against one another is a tool of the patriarchy. Sorry, Archie comics. Ah, the blissful ignorance of youth.

*I haven‘t watched the show. I‘ve heard it‘s not bad? Maybe they rectify some of these icky gender stereotypes. Ditto for the newer comics. I‘ll admit that I only reread a “snapshot” so it‘s *possible* that I didn‘t get a complete picture.

I‘m not willing to put in the amount of time needed to finish this whole volume, but I‘ve gotta give my girl Betty *some* attention. The book‘s organized into sections by decade, so I‘m focusing on the 80‘s & 90‘s.

Probably the first instance of love triangles I ever came across was in the Archie comics which as a kid I loved to hate (and also hated to love)! Poor Betty!

readinginthedark I love(d) the Archie comics so much! But I enjoyed it more when they were doing their own things as individuals or a group of friends, less when the girls were being petty over Archie. 7y
