Bailedbailed

Had to bail on this one. Not what I expected at all and very boring. 🙁😴

Gabbymags123 That‘s very disheartening when that happens…. Thank goodness it‘s not frequent 2y

“The bodies of four men have been discovered in the town of Bradfield. Enlisted to investigate is criminal psychologist Tony Hill. Even for a seasoned professional, the series of mutilation sex murders is unlike anything he's encountered before. But profiling the psychopath is not beyond him. Hill's own past has made him the perfect man to comprehend the killer's motives. It's also made him the perfect victim.”

#BookMoods #SecondInASeries

Has to be Wire in the Blood, one of my all-time favourite books and second in the excellent Tony Hill / Carol Jordan series. This was also the title of the tv series they made from the books.

Working on a scarf while trying to read and be covered in cats is as complicated as it is cozy. This book, on the other hand, is a dark one. I‘d watched the show, Wire in the Blood, but still wasn‘t prepared for everything going on here. #lennox #huey #catsoflitsy #readharder2022

Johanna414 I love that yarn, and I can relate to that struggle... 3y
jen_hayes7 @Johanna414 Thank you!! Same here! It‘s even prettier than it looked in the skein. 😻 3y

Mehso-so

Jacko Vance, serial killer of teenage girls, has been banged up in prison since Book 2. He manages to inveigle his way into a position where he can take the place of a prisoner due to go on day release so he can wreak a plan of revenge.

I can only rate this one as average as the book went on for too long. Tony was definitely off his game, but Carol Jordan really annoyed me. I'm a bit lukewarm about reading the next one after the ending. 3⭐

Pickpick

This was a return to form after the ho-hum of the previous book: pacier with a tightly written plot. There's less gore in this one too as the murders happen 'off page' but there are still a couple of grisly descriptions of the aftermath. The conclusion also hints that there may be some movement in Tony & Carol's personal relationship at last. 4🌟

Yeah, I finished this book today! It is only a so-so because it isn't very exciting. But I like the protagonists and the antagonists. Next book with Tony Hill and Carol Jordan will be an audiobook.

The book counts for my #Scarathlon2021 #teamslaughter #thriller #crime

Pickpick

I found Carol rather irritating in this one as she continually rubbished Tony's insights into the case - wasn't she there during the last 4 books?! There's quite a lot going on in the plot, with poisonings, bombs, terrorism, etc & Tony's horrible mother turns up intent on defrauding him of his inheritance. Even so, I found this a bit more difficult to get through than the previous books as it seems to lose momentum a little. 3.5🌟

Another book in the series where the reader is left wincing at the graphic descriptions & these killings are particularly nasty. There's another case involving missing young boys but it's kept very much secondary & it left me feeling shortchanged - I would have liked a bit more closure. This is an issue with Carol & Tony's relationship too as it's two steps forward, three steps back. 4🌟
