3.5/5 🌟

This started strongly with a compelling look at mental illness and the bond between twin brothers. However, the relentless misfortunes made the narrative feel forced and overly dramatic. An okay read overall.

julieclair This is adorable! 2w
dabbe @julieclair I adore these books by Rosamond du Jardin. They're overloaded on 1950s nostalgia, but I still love them anyway. This book is from the Pam & Penny twins series, of which there are four: DOUBLE DATE, DOUBLE FEATURE, SHOWBOAT SUMMER, and DOUBLE WEDDING. 🤩 2w

I know this was a popular book but it was not to my liking. I normally enjoy psychological insight within a novel but this book felt more like the day to day ramblings and procrastination of a brother who chose to be misguided and utilized his brother as a source of blame. Not for me.

Delightful middle grade Hanukkah and Christmas book about identical twin girls who were adopted by different families and then happened to find each other.

“That was the way of grief, I was realizing. It was a barrage of pain that was so unbearable that it made you numb. And then out of nowhere, something made you feel again and the cycle started over from the beginning.” Truth 💯

This book is so beautifully written! I can visualize the woods, owls, rain, everything! This author is becoming a favorite ❤️

I tried tea again and it tastes like perfume 😩😣 🫖

shortsarahrose What type of tea and how long did you brew it? I find certain teas if brewed too long can get soapy. 2mo
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @shortsarahrose rose lemon I think… about 4 minutes… I really want to like the!! 2mo
shortsarahrose Maybe something like a chai would be a good starter tea? It‘s more warming spices (but not spicy). 2mo

This was an interesting mystery-turned-whodunnit tangled web of an abandoned friends group from 20 years prior. I was nearing the end before I considered this author‘s magical elements were left out of the story. Then I had to laugh realizing I didn‘t consider the MC getting little clues from her deceased twin as a magical element.

AnnCrystal Clues from the spirit realms is absolutely normal in my way of weighing things too 😉👍📚💖. 2mo
wanderinglynn I liked Unmaking but I haven‘t care for her YA books. But I may give this one a go. And getting clues from the spirit realm seems completely normal to me 😉 2mo
marleed @AnnCrystal @wanderinglynn I liked Unmaking a bit better, but still liked this one. I am still laughing at myself for seriously not picking up on the dead twin communication as the magical realism element because I mean, twins🤣 2mo
