#VictoriaDayReadathon wrap-up:
✅ Emily Climbs (Montgomery)
✅ Incognito: The Secret Lives of the Brain (Eagleman)

I did not start Pierre Berton‘s War of 1812 or A Fine Balance (Mistry), but I‘d had the Eagleman out from the library for a while, so it was good to finish it.

4⭐️ beautifully written and well paced storytelling. The forest, and coastal landscapes as well as the people living in them are so compelling. I could almost smell the pine and tidal changes. A very good read. #victoriadayreadathon 🇨🇦

I finished off the #VictoriaDayReadathon with this excellent installment from the October Daye series. In this one, Toby negotiates the politics of a conclave involving faerie kings and queens, and ends up as lead investigator when one of the monarchs is murdered.

This historical fantasy set in Chicago of the 1920's features demons, angels and a noir-style mystery. I enjoyed it very much and thought it had a lot of depth in its plot and characters for a novella-length book.

The best way to find more Canadians on Litsy? Through @melissajayne ‘s #VictoriaDayReadathon! 🇨🇦 I am looking forward to a long weekend full of reading. If I can read these 2 books, that would be great:
Emily Climbs (Montgomery)
Pierre Berton‘s War of 1812
Also could this be the weekend I finally start A Fine Balance (Mistry)?!

Onto my next read for the #victoriadayreadathon - there‘s a new thing on our library‘s Libby App -A Skip the Line Loan - you have 7 days to read it - I‘m hoping to make some headway before times up in 4 days. Naturally my loan list is full and I‘m easily distracted by the other books 📚 so who knows if I‘ll finish

The #victoriadayreadathon hosted by @melissajayne is just what's needed to fill out the upcoming long weekend! For once, we're not travelling anywhere, so I'm looking forward to a relaxing few days with lots of reading.

The Aurora Award nominees (for Canadian sci-fi and fantasy) have just been announced and I'll be reading from that list: https://www.tor.com/2023/05/15/heres-the-2023-aurora-award-ballot/

repost for @melissajayne:

I am hosting a Victoria Day Weekend readalong this Friday through Sunday. Victoria is the unofficial start of summer here in Canada. For a more broad definition of Victoria Day, you can go here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_Day

This will be a low key #readathon, in that you can read as much or as little as you want. It just matters that you read. I hope you can join in. #victoriadayreadathon
