One of my favorite chapters in this book has one of the main characters walking in the dead of night through an unfamiliar Queens neighborhood, just having escaped from danger. I thought I'd try and and finally post on the thread just as the month comes to an end.
Reservoir 13 was a highlight of the booker longlist for me, so i recalled jon macgregor's excellent earlier story set in on an unnamed northern street where an incident has occurred and the reader gets to look behind the net curtains at all the lives of the individuals who live there.
#Rocktober American War imagines America in 2075, where a second Civil War has occurred between North & South, and the unfortunate practices of suicide bombers is now a common day occurrence. The Chestnut family once led a quiet life in flood-ridden Louisiana, but when their father is killed the children and their mother, end up in Camp Patience — a “huge tent favela” for refugees #WhereTheStreetsHaveNoNames 😣This book should have worked but 👇🏼
