I listened to this one over audio, great narration. What a wild ride of a book. Amber Jamison can‘t believe her bad luck when she‘s abducted by a serial killer. She‘s rescued by a mysterious woman. After Amber leaves college to escape what happened she falls back into her old patterns. Her escape west has her meet a true crime Vegas group & her mysterious rescuer. A story full of twists & a quick, fun listen. #bookspin book

⭐️⭐️this would be just fine as an airplane book to get you through a flight. Pretty generic.

Yet another example of a book from this list that could have been great. I loved the gritty, Western tone; it felt original. Also, focusing on two women recently released from prison was a great premise.

Sadly, though, another book falls short due to poor execution in the end. The book starts strong, then the storyline tries to be too complex and ultimately collapses on itself.

I would read this author again, though.

Ruthiella I‘ve long meant to read her books, but I think I will start with the one that was chosen for Dennis Lahane‘s imprint back in the day. 4mo

squirrelbrain That‘s the second so-so review I‘ve seen for this - plus it‘s not out for a few months yet over here. 4mo
Hooked_on_books Yeah, I felt the same way. Great premise, lots of potential, but too bad it didn‘t deliver. 4mo
Chelsea.Poole I agree! Such promise but didn‘t live up to the potential. 4mo
Megabooks I listened to a bit of the audio and wasn‘t sold. I think I‘ll skip. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4mo

Great premise—a woman is suddenly released early from prison during the lockdown period of the pandemic. But when she gets on a bus to try to get home, the wheels start to come off. So many opportunities to reflect on incarceration and support for released prisoners, but I found this lacking. #tob24 longlist

Ten people chosen at@random, 2 days to hide, 30 days not found and you win 3 million. Good scary truth read. Oh, that technology is out there.😳. Try to decide how you would hide. Great read.

Ten ordinary people are chosen to evade capture in a one month time period. The payoff? A cool three million bucks. It‘s a cat and mouse game between the ten contestants and one tech giant. Will anyone win? And at what cost? As the book winds down, it‘s a real race to the end. Great writing and character development and of course a desire to know if the good guys will win.

A fast paced techno thriller. Bigger than life Elon Musk type Cy challenges ten people to evade his surveillance technology for thirty days. If they do they get 3 million dollars. This book moved, and was hard to put down once I started.

A modern day western set during the pandemic, in which prisoners are granted early release and head west to LA. Female-centric, violent, but missing something for me. I‘m worried it was me because I listened to the audiobook and have had a hectic schedule and feel I could have missed some nuances. So take this with a grain of salt, because I‘ve enjoyed the other two I‘ve read of Pochoda‘s.
