Song and Garden Birds of North America | National Geographic Society (U.S.), Alexander Wetmore

I took the dust jacket off of my copy of this book and was delighted to find a charming little cardinal on the cover. I see these birds a lot in upstate NY but I never tire of seeing their exciting pop of color when they fly by. Our cats get really excited as well when they see them through the windows!
Side note- are there any Litsy birders out there?

Cuilin I love the pop of color when I see a cardinal too. Yes, I like birds, especially corvids and raptors. I like puffins too. I like birds. 🦅 🦢 3mo
dabbe We 💚💙💚 birds! We have feeders for the lesser goldfinches and hummingbirds. My favorite is the Abert's Towhee, only found mostly in southwestern AZ. We call them our SW robin. 🤩 3mo

psalva @dabbe glad to know that! I am rediscovering my interest in birds as an adult. I wish I could have feeders but my apartment complex is weird about it. I hadn‘t heard of the Abert‘s but I looked it up and it‘s very cute. It‘s sort of got that patch around its beak like the cardinal :) I bet there‘s some beautiful hummingbirds as well. Here we just have the ruby-throated, but I‘ve only seen one so far this year. 3mo
psalva @Cuilin I love watching the local corvids. We get a few crows that are regulars at the park across the street from our apartment. I am pretty bad at distinguishing the raptors still, especially if they‘re flying. If they‘re perched or I have a picture it‘s easier, but I need some practice :) and puffins, of course, are so cute! I‘d love to get to see them in the wild some day. We‘ll see. (edited) 3mo
