Scary, weird & sad…It‘s Junji Ito!
This is a single-shot entry I believe. I‘m not sure I‘d WANT to follow these characters.
No heroes in horror manga, sorry!

3⭐️ this book belongs in the category of “ what in the hell did I just read?”. It was graphic and pretty gory and really gross. But it had the affect the author wanted it to have so there you go. #BookSpin #BookSpinBingo
I love Junji Ito. His stories are creepy and his artwork is phenomenal. These stories did not disappoint. Greased though…that was a whole other level. I legit felt a little nauseas reading it, and made the face the entire time. It was awesome.
An unsettling and creepy selection of nine stories of body horror. There isn't enough space to build up a lot of psychological tension in each tale, so Ito goes for shocks and grossness, on which he definitely delivers.
The Fashion Model and Grease were, I think, the best of a strong set.
All the trigger/content warnings ⚠️
2.8⭐️WTF did I just read??? I don‘t even know how to describe this one, but seriously 🤮. I wasn‘t really a fan, and I will be unhauling this one from my shelves for sure. But it made me uncomfortable, which is what I think the author had in mind, so it did what it was supposed to do.
Crying about De La Pole again. Next on the schedule is crying about Katherine, and then crying about Feather, yet again.
[The first two characters are from Wyrm by Gretchen Felker-Martin, which is not in the database yet]
What cracks me up is I started both these books yesterday. Maybe I have the gift 🔮… lol, but for real these are both pretty good so far. #BookSpinBingo #BookSpin #DoubleSpin
#BookSpinBingo hello February… I can‘t believe January is already over. By midnight tonight I will have 13 books read this month. Still didn‘t get a Bingo but I‘m pretty happy overall. Looking forward to another great month of reading.
As one who has lived a life of disturbing thoughts and anxieties, the ones this writer fixates on feel somehow inauthentic. There is writing to understand the depths of human experience and there‘s writing to provoke. This landed on provocative but in too heavy handed a way as to be relatable I‘m afraid.
