I should have shared this book of poems by Molly McCully Brown yesterday for #booksaboutmentalhealth for #readingwomenmonth. I'll be sharing poems from it over the next several days. #LitsyPoetry365

VioletBramble The asylum where she stayed is now part of an apartment building. Every time I walk past I wonder what it must be like to live in a place with such horrible history attached to it. 7y
quietlycuriouskate She must have been a courageous woman: I'd have been terrified they'd not let me out ever. 7y
bookwrm526 @River_Voice she had a plan for that, but I still think it would have Beene huge fear - even the best plan can fail! 7y

I haven't read this since college which somehow seems right. I also have a book of her journals which I have never read but still swear I will someday. #readingwomenmonth #booksaboutmentalhealth

Tamra I am sad to say I haven't read it yet, which I hope to rectify very soon! 7y

#readingwomenmonth #booksaboutmentalhealth
There are so many books about mental health and i thought instantly of stunning recent memoirs that i posted on a thread recently H is for hawk and The Outrun but instead I've plumped for muriel spark's brilliantly dark novella about a woman who goes on a holiday to Italy - i won't say any more but .

saresmoore Ooh, with a teaser like that, I can't NOT stack this! 7y
andrew61 @saresmoore ha just seen what i did, wasn't deliberate, i was tapping away on my phone, got interrupted and pressed post. Still it probably sums it up perectly 😂 7y
ValerieAndBooks This was good! I won't say anymore either 🙊 7y
diovival This book 😮❗ 7y
batsy Oooh love the only Spark I've read and I love that all of you are being so cryptic. Have to check it out. 7y

This was the first book to come to mind when I thought about #booksaboutmentalhealth. I read this years ago when it first came out. I still remember how much it hit me. ❤️ #ReadingWomenMonth

Wishful Drinking | Carrie Fisher

My picks for #ReadingWomenMonth Challenge #21 #BooksAboutMentalHealth are all written by the late great Carrie Fisher - 🔹Wishful Drinking 🔹Shockaholic 🔹The Princess Diarist

If you want to learn something while laughing a lot and being thoroughly entertained I highly recommend #WishfulDrinking and #Shockaholic - The Princess Diarist is on my #TBR list.

The Yellow Wallpaper | Charlotte Perkins Gilman

"It is the strangest yellow, that wallpaper! It makes me think of all the yellow things I ever saw – not beautiful ones like buttercups, but old foul, bad yellow things.”

Regarded as a feminist literature, it is an account of a woman driven to madness as a result of the sexist and often prejudiced views of medical science in the Victorian times.

AThousandLives87 I read this as part of her collection...it's fabulous!! 7y
Caroline2 I loved this book! Small but packs a punch! (edited) 7y
slategreyskies I read this in college. I remember being blown away by it, scrawling notes in the margins and underlining. I felt like it had been written for me to find. It's definitely one of the most powerful pieces of literature that I've ever read. 7y
