The Button Book | Sally Nicholls
post image
Mehso-so

3 ⭐
The illustrations are more entertaining, and the conventions of what happens when you press a button work really well for at home reading. I wouldn‘t want to do this at story time, and many of the kids may be strangers to each other and pressing a button that requires everyone to hug, could cause problems. Overall I liked this

This MF Theodore Seuss Geisel honor book is a cute book for younger kids filled with colorful drawings and a fun song. ztorres Every time I see this book it never fails that I automatically start singing the song. I have read the book but I don't own it. I am putting it in my list for books to buy for my classroom library. I think you can't never go wrong with Pete the Cat series. 3y
PatriciaS I love this book, repetitive phases, read aloud is great for literary and fluency exercises wonderful books in this series, excellent review and resources. 3y
KellyR I absolutely love Pete the Cat books and there is quite the collection of them! I enjoyed your resources, the activities were very educational and fun for the students to complete. 3y
DrSpalding Pete the cat books do not disappoint! Children in the primary grades thoroughly enjoy these books. Universal design 2.3 could work and English learner strategy two could work as well specifically if you were having the students partner read or if you used this book as a guided reading text. 3y

This MF theodor seuss geisel picture book is a great resource for a Choral reading. The book has a song that is repeated throughout the story which allows for an easy read along. There are also math questions thrown in when Pete looses his buttons and you have to determine the amount left. https://www.readingrockets.org/article/integrating-writing-and-mathematics #UCFLAE3414SP21

Emiranda UDL 2.3 is used here as there are mathematical notations throughout the book. EL 2 is used to promote cooperation as they are reading together with their classmates and teacher in the choral reading. 3y

It‘s hard to read a middle grade historical fiction set in a small war torn Polish village at the outset of WWI. Very well done though.

Pete the Cat books are funky Fictional stories about a cool little cat and his day to day adventures at home and school. These books can be used for S, RA‘s, and CR‘s. A UDL guideline to consider to align with these books are little ones can highlight patterns, critical features, big ideas, and relationships. (3.1) #ucflae3414sp20

RaivionneC Check out the Pete The Cat website for videos of read alouds, activities, worksheets and much more. http://www.petethecatbooks.com/ 4y
RaivionneC For ELL students these books are great for providing contextual support through audio visuals, models, demonstrations, realia, body language and facial expressions. 4y
DrSpalding This is an excellent resource! There are so many activities that coincide with this series of books about this positive blue cat! Cute image. 4y

The Friendship War | Andrew Clements
post image

Okay, normally I only do new books, but this is coming out in paperback and I wanted to post it because it is likly the last Andrew Clements book we will get as he passed away Thanksgiving weekend. His books are both new and classics. My favorite is No Talking, but I know so many teachers for who Friendle is a yearly read.

My he rest in the stories he inspired children with.

Out in paperback Jan 7
