I may not be American but I do have a lot to be thankful for for today!
I may not be American but I do have a lot to be thankful for for today!
May got off to a really rough start, but thanks in large part to the #classicbuddyread of a favorite and recommendations from Littens, I had some phenomenal 5-star reads. #bestofMay
Plus, I have some promising books on deck for June - #nowbringmethathorizon. I can't wait!
And special thanks to @CrowCAH , @jenniferw88 , @RealLifeReading , and @Cinfhen for hosting challenges that blew up my TBR. 😂
I finished Persuasion for the #classicbuddyread and really enjoyed reading everyone's comments on the book. I had only read Pride and Prejudice prior to this but meant to get to more of Austen's work so this was the perfect opportunity to do so.
#cbr #classicbuddyread my heart broke for Anne in this classic, I also loved to hate most other characters!
I had fun doing my first #buddyread even though I stunk at it because I would end up skipping a day and having to catch up with a couple of chapters at a time. Thanks, @Bambolina_81 , for organizing this! 😊
Day 24 and the final chapter of #classicbuddyread #cbr
Anne gives us a rather tongue-in-cheek moral: when young people want to get married, they‘re going to manage to do it no matter what.
As it turns out, neither Sir Walter nor Elizabeth object much, since Wentworth‘s risen in the world even as the Elliots have dropped. Also, Wentworth‘s handsomeness counts as a plus in Sir Walter‘s book - we've come full circle back to Sir Walter‘s vanity!
#classicbuddyread completed a day early. I'm glad I've reread this as it tells me Anne Elliott is not going on my #literaryheroines list. 2 ⭐ @Bambolina_81
Day 23 Volume II Ch 23 / 11 #classicbuddyread #cbr
I know a few people have finished already because it's hard to not read on from the penultimate chapter!
It seems that Anne has grown over the past eight years; though she continues to recognize the importance of duty and humility in listening to others, she has come to esteem & trust her own judgment more than she did when she was younger.
What do you think of the advances in this chapter?
