Sace I keep a simple tracker in my journal. It's very satisfying to color in the square every day I don't buy a book. 6y
Jess_Read_This As a habitual failure in self imposed book buying bans... I have very little good advice to offer. 😂 Just my commiserations on how real the struggle is!! I do try to increase my library card usage though for the months I‘m trying not to buy myself books. (edited) 6y

Mdargusch I have failed at my book buying ban while on vacation. However, I am doing the #mounttbrchallenge and using the books I own for the #booked18 and #pop2018 challenges. I have a journal list of the books I‘ve used off my shelves for challenges and it‘s so satisfying to see that list grow! 6y

ralexist Frequent your local library :) If I bought every book I wanted to read I'd be out thousands upon thousands of dollars per year. I only own those I truly love and which will be re-reads and favorites forever. With the library I can enjoy everything I want and then the book goes back to be shared and enjoyed by someone else. (Somewhat biased opinion here as I am a librarian, but the premise still holds true) (edited) 6y

Kalalalatja @Suet624 @Jess_Read_This @ralexist I do use my library for audiobooks, but I‘m a buyer, not a borrower 😄 but I have so many unread books at the moment, so it shouldn‘t be a problem getting books to read. I just want new ones too 😳😄 6y

Q84 If you really feel the need go to the library and leave with a pile of books! Also ask friends if they have any books they are willing to part with. But definitely stay away from bookstores and bookracks! You can so do this! 6y
Kalalalatja @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I believe in us! Although I‘m going to Iceland at the end of March, and I can‘t really promise not to buy anything thing. But it doesn‘t count if I‘m on vacation, right? 😄 6y
Kalalalatja @Q84 I‘m definitely staying away from bookstores! It is those emails that land in my inbox each day with offers from online bookstores that are the real trouble! 6y
Librariana I'm on a ban until June, so I hear ya! 😁😊 But I actually find it empowering to walk into a bookstore and tell myself a couple of things: 1) I have tons of these at home I haven't read (133, to be exact) 2) They (books) will be here waiting for me to come save them when I return in June (lol!) 3) I don't *need* to buy anything. And then I just walk out 😄 And keep walking because otherwise, I'll turn around and the temptation is REAL! 6y
Q84 If you can stay away from the emails, if not maybe you could make them be redirected to a special folder and not in your main feed? 6y
erzascarletbookgasm Ha! Hide those offers emails! Spam them (temporarily 😉). Even if you avoid bookstores, bring just enough money for grocery shopping! Don‘t stay away from Litsy, we‘ll miss you! And good luck with the ban. 6y
