This would be a great story to have children compare with other depictions of the story. They could compare the words or the illustrations. It can also serve as a great writing prompt.
Week 4: Traditional Literature. I love this depiction of the story. The illustrations are colorful and engaging. The author put lots of thought into making the story entertaining. Published in 2014.
Book mail is the best mail! And finding a pristine HC copy of one of Maria Tatar‘s annotated books on Abe for $7 makes it even better. I don‘t buy a lot of physical books these days - too hard to hold and the font size, for some reason, won‘t get any bigger no matter how many times I stab the book with my index finger - but I will always buy an annotated Tatar. 🩷💛🩷
Grid Grimly‘s art never disappoints and his illustrations in this edition of Grimm fairytales are excellent. Seeing how he depicted each story, the best and worst characters, and everything in between was really fun. Atmospheric, creepy, delightful…I could go on…Needless to say, I‘ll be hunting down his other illustrated books as well.
This Grimly illustrated edition of Grimm fairy tales is one of my new favorite things. I‘m going to dive back in with my morning coffee. Perfect way to start the day!
