This one lives on my "old books" shelf. It's falling apart so it's held together by a rubber band.

The little man with the crown said, 'Welcome, Thumbelina. You have found a new home at last'“
I enjoyed reading this story because it is whimsical and allows children's imagination to explore magic and fairytale. This story contains lots of the requirements to be part of traditional literature.
This story is an example of traditional literature because it contains magic and talking animals. A woman wants to have a child, so she plants a flower and kisses the bud, and a girl pops out. Thumbelina is taken by toads but a field mouse finds her and takes her in. Thumbelina then finds a hurt swallow and takes care of him, the swallow and Thumbelina take off. Thumbelina finds her home where she finds her king and she is the queen.
Current read, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I love the idea of secret treaties between the governments of the human world and the various fae courts -- which means that PROBLEMS need to be taken care of quietly. That's where Our Hero comes in, and right now he's trapped in a cozy Canadian village with a social worker/battle mage for a reluctant human partner, and the bodies just keep piling up .... #urbanfantasy #murder #mystery #fae #fairy
