3✨ I really liked the fantasy concept in this story. We have a woman that is strong and her finding a way of breaking a spell on a demon. This causes them to go on an adventure to free other demons controlled by the goddess. Getting spicy really quickly is not my favorite type of romance, and the plot was a great idea. I wish we would have gotten more of the story itself. #HTBookClub

I feel like this story has potential and all the components I enjoy, but was repetitive at times, and slow in an unnecessary way. I‘m nervous about investing in the series because of spoilers I read - (I‘m ok with spoilers btw) but will try out the third book and see.

Very enjoyable and fast read overall. Didn‘t understand a lot of the foreign word references regarding food and clothing. Some things were obvious, like facing her past as the answer to unlocking her powers…I didn‘t get the Howl‘s Moving Castle similarities until she went to his bedroom that was down a long hall and was eccentric. Then I got all the Howl vibes. So sad that Eliasz had to die. Nice tidbit right at the end.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. As people have commented, romantacy is romanticizing very toxic actions & people. Willow Talks Books (YouTube) recommended S&SM a bit ago, highlighting how this has some of those tropes but handles them differently. Neither character‘s behavior is excused but is explained. Most readers will probably see the twists coming but that doesn‘t remove the emotional resonance. Very much looking forward to the next book.
