I‘m a sucker for Ruritanian romance; throw in some fantasy and I‘m there. This is the sequel to ‘Coronets & Steel‘ literally a modern day Ruritanian romance with fantasy elements; it follows on the Christmas after the events in the first book. Although (halfway through) there‘s not much romance, the love of Kim‘s life being otherwise engaged (pun intended). Still fun

humouress For an inland, mountainous region they do seem to eat a lot of fish. 7d
humouress Well, it‘s not ‘Rupert of Hentzau‘ (thankfully) though it does have its moments. Wow! - did not see that ending coming. I found it a bit confusing in odd places (probably reading too fast so I could find out what happens next); I recommend reading it soon after the first so you can keep track of the family tree (it‘s been nearly a year & 2 months for me). 4.5***** (edited) 6d

My -ology journey continues with Griffin & Sabine heptalogy series. I chose these instead of Chronicles of Narnia because a) I read book 1 of G&S and I wanted to finish the remaining books and b) I read Narnia to the point I lost count.

marleed I have been obsessed with these books since the 1990‘s. I‘m a bit jelly here because I‘m missing Alexandria from my collection! 3w

SconsinBookyBadger @marleed I found listings for Alexandria on eBay too, but I didn‘t include the links. The seller‘s reviews were quite mixed. As for Pango; Alexandria was sold out. I hope you find one! 3w

Interesting premise and I liked reading how ancient Romans lived, the public baths, the smell (omg, the smell - you could practically experience it coming off the pages with the descriptions), disease and war. Too bad the main character was so unlikeable. She had her own morals, like no drinking, no spanking children, etc., but then would give into them, almost like, “Oh well, when in Rome…” Ending felt flat and predictable too.

I love John Connolly. This is an ebook I've had for a few months now, but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

So damn good. The first part drug for me, like the first book. I liked the Old English words at the beginning of the chapters. Think that I love the whimsy of the book.

4.25/5 ?????
