"You can destroy a book. You can burn it, you can tear it to pieces and scatter them to the four winds, you can soak it until it reverts to pulp or the ink turns the water black, but you can't destroy the contents of the book, or the idea of the book, not as long as there are those who care, who remember...who read."

"I've started to hate fairy tales."

"That's unfortunate."

"Why?"

"Because," said the Woodsman, "you happen to be in one."

I think one of my favorite pleasures is going out to dinner with a book! 🤭💕📚 Last night was my final night in New Jersey before heading home, and my family and I went out to a really yummy Italian restaurant!

I'm loving this book so far! 💕📚 And one really awesome thing about it is that at the beginning of each chapter there is a word in Old English or Old Norse! So cool!

Spending a long weekend visiting my family in NJ. It's always super stressful, so of course I brought a ton of books with me! 😂 This is one I bought specifically for the trip! It has lots of dark fairytale vibes! I'm super excited about it! 💕📚

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I just found the first book in this series last year, but it was originally published in 2006, so this sequel was a long time coming!
Focusing on a mother whose daughter is unconscious in the hospital and the fantastical journey she goes on in Elsewhere, the audiobook is expertly read by Lucy Paterson, so I‘d definitely recommend that version.
The first book was one of my best books of last year, and this one did not disappoint.

Twice upon a time - for that is how some stories should continue - there was a mother whose daughter was stolen from her.

Bookmail! The top one - I loved The Book of Lost Things, so I'm equal parts looking forward to this one and scared it won't be as good.
I do appreciate that the covers match despite being years between publications.

In some ways, I‘ve been waiting 15 years for this sequel! I‘m really glad I took the time to re-read THE BOOK OF LOST THINGS first, since I appreciated and recognized more of the details and characters linking these two stories together. Set in the present, Ceres finds herself drawn to the Elsewhere while railing against the condition of her comatose daughter. Both sad and adventurous, I tried my best to savor this fresh trip to this magical land!
