One of Us Is Sleeping | Josefine Klougart

#finishwhatyoustarted I started this in the summer of 2023, it was a gift from friends who live in Denmark. The author was/is a celebrated new author. This is a slow moving, reflective, poetically written reflection of life and grief and the endings we live through in a long life. It is not really my jam

#finishwhatyoustarted here we go - I was halfway through and now I‘m going to get her done. It is so poetically written, you have to slow down and savour the words which I‘m not good at. I‘m an inhaler of words. And biscuits

Booksblanketsandahotbeverage Lol. Your mug is amazing ❣️ 1w
mcctrish @Booksblanketsandahotbeverage it brings a lot of joy 😆 1w

I‘m not surprised this took me over a year to get through - it is dense! But I really enjoyed how it put Mary and Elizabeth side-by-side to give more context for how and why their relationship was the way it was.

My fourth book finished in my #finishwhatyoustarted readathon

Hello Littens. I feel like there are not enough readathons. I'm hosting a #SnowyDecemberReathon where we sit by the fireplace and a blanket and read or listen to books. Dec 1-7. Let's welcome Dec and tag me with some books you read or listen to the first week of Dec. Who's in? @LitsyEvents

Far From the Tree | Solomon, Andrew

I. Did. It. #finishwhatyoustarted #nonfictionnovember #allergictochunksters 11 years ago my brother in law gifted this to me, it was an absolute favourite of his and it makes sense to me how it resonated with him. As a woman, I feel the lack of female representation in this gigantic tome of a book appalling. It starts with son and ends with father which is a beautiful full circle for him as a gay man but leaves out 50% of the population

Karisa 🏆 The older I get, the harder it is for me to read books without realistically written women. Honestly, 90%+ of what I read is written by women these days. I‘m reading Stoner right now. I know it‘s a good book, but without a relatable adult woman character in sight so far 🤷🏻‍♀️ feels hollow 3w
mcctrish @Karisa Andrew did women and girls a disservice not including at least one chapter detailing all the slings and arrows a patriarchal society/world throws at us and more importantly how pervasive they are that it‘s the norm 3w
Suet624 It‘s like watching old movies and being shocked by what we accepted in the past. 3w

ChaoticMissAdventures I fully agree. I went back and forth between pick (for all of his research, and honestly my relief that the Trans chapter was not phobic) and so-so. As the “birthing“ sex I found his lack of discussion around pregnancy and birth - centering actual women not just the mistakes or the results really unsettling. I also was really frustrated at his lack of discussion around race. Especially in the crime chapter. 3w
mcctrish @ChaoticMissAdventures yes! Also poverty in relation to race and women and how that affects everything 🤯 3w
AnnCrystal Grand points made here ♀️👏🏼😉✊🏼📚🎬📺💝. 3w

I love reading other people‘s mail.

It was so lovely to spend time with Jane again but as I got towards the end, I got quite sad.

I started this in 2022 and finally finished it as part of my #finishwhatyoustarted readathon

Well researched, but the chapters were very long, except for 2 of them. I never knew about a Women's Orchestra at Auschwitz. The Nazis made them play for the people arriving at the platform where the prisoners were sent right to live or left to die.

This took me a minute to get into but by the end, I was just enchanted by the cast of sweet, quirky characters, the magic of the inn, and the story of Sera trying to get her magic back. I'm generally not a fan of fantasy but this was exactly what I needed right now and I'll need to add more cozy fantasy to my stacks!

First book finished in my #finishwhatyoustarted readathon and one of my picks from #trappedinaspookyhouse

mcctrish The ending infuriated me 3w
janeycanuck @mcctrish oh no!! Have you read The Very Secret Society of Witches? Did you feel the same about that one? 3w
mcctrish I read Very Secret first and I loved it and I loved this one too until the end - Sera shouldn‘t have had to bear the full cost 3w

It‘s time for the #finishwhatyoustarted readathon to clear out whatever you need to get finished before the end of the year! I was hoping to start strong and finish something this weekend but I just got a notification from the library that 3 holds are in and I still have six in the house so I should prolly work on those!
