Macbeth | Jo Nesbo

Mehso-so

I just thought this whole reimagining was heavy handed and sloppy. What makes Macbeth a great story is the finesse. I felt no sympathy for this Macbeth. Nothing more than a megalomaniac with no depth. #NewIn2018 #booked2018 #getreading2018 #26of36 #audiobook

Cinfhen That‘s a shame!! Maybe Nesbø wasn‘t the right author to retell Shakespeare !?! ?‍♀️ 6y
Literaturenut His prose were actually quite lovely and well written. I think if he had spent more time to develop the depth of story it would have been better. I would think retelling a Classic is always in ways more difficult because you want to make it your own, but it still needs to be recognizable. 6y

An eye opening book of what the intel monologue of a schizophrenic is like. It‘s a YA book and an easy, quick read, but poignant nonetheless. #SetAtSchool #booked2018 #MCwithMentalIllness #getreading2018 #23of36 #AudioBook

It took a while for me to really feel invested in these characters. Her writing is beautiful and the characters were well developed. The story was woven together wonderfully and by the end, the heart break of the story hit me hard. #SetInAfrica #AfricanAuthor #getreading2018 #22of36 #audiobook

I have to say, I understand why people love this book. The prose are beautiful and the story is exquisitely intertwined. But the characters have no real depth. No one is truly all good or all evil. Not to mention how racist and misogynistic it is. I don‘t think Steinbeck understand women at all. #BlameItOnLitsy #Booked2018 #Classic #GetReading2018 #21of36 #audiobook

Cinfhen Sometimes those classics really show their age!!! Nice choice for prompt!! 6y
alisiakae I loved this book in high school, but I think I need to read it to see if I still feel the same. Based on your review, I probably won‘t! 6y

I loved the way the recipes were weaves into the story. But the main love interest? Just no. #translatedintoenglish #getreading2018 #16of36 #audiobook

Oh man, I wanted to bail on this book, but I was determined to finish it for a book challenge. The book was ridiculously heteronormative. And it seemed much more focused on sexual dysfunction than anything else. In truth, I was so tired hearing about erectile dysfunction and the weird things men have done to try to fix it. It‘s amazing Roach could make a book about sex neither interesting nor sexy. #nonfiction #getreading2018 #14of36 #audiobook

Gabourey Sidibe lays down some truths about being a plus sized black woman in our society with loads of snark. The #audiobook, read by the actress, is the way to go. #diversenonfiction #booked2018 #collectionofessays #getreading2018 #13of36
