Welcome to Dead House | R. L. Stine

Pickpick

Finished this yesterday. I had to re-listen to parts of it because I was so exhausted after my COVID vaccination (in the past, they had knocked me down for about 24 hours, so I expected this).

I didn't read a lot of R.L. Stine because when it came out, I was already pre-teen, so I moved onto SK (as Gen X peeps do).

#ChildhoodFavorite

KateReadsYA I remember when I got my vaccine and my body hurt sooo bad. Like my back felt like it was full of knots. Hope you feel better soon. 1mo
ElizaMarie @KateReadsYA So day one, I was just exhausted, like I couldn't lift my head. Day 2 I felt sick, like body aches, fever, chills. Ugh! I mean.. this happened with all the others - but - I did fill its important to keep getting them.

Feel much better today (Day 3) - I think I am past it.

KateReadsYA @ElizaMarie It's a tough one to get through. Glad you are feeling better. 1mo

The Midnight Club | Christopher Pike

Pickpick

Going through things at my father's house, while both physically and emotionally exhausting, has also turned up some childhood gems. I thought the last of my old Christopher Pike books had been destroyed in a basement flood incident, but it turns out they were stored up high! I'm so tickled to revisit this old favorite, among others.

Dragon There‘s a Netflix series that I think is based on this and other Christopher Pike books. 💚🐉 12mo
SpeculativeFemale Yeah, I watched it, and enjoyed it, but it takes a LOT of liberties. Still fun, but in an entirely different way. 12mo

Amiable Oh, I loved these books so much when I was a kid. 🥰 3y
Skyrimir I‘ve always loved these covers. Mine are falling apart, but I refuse to get newer editions! 3y
TiminCalifornia @Amiable @Skyrimir Same here. These were great. The Swiftly Tilting Planet cover sure has that early ‘80s vibe going. It‘s dated like me! 3y
CornerLibrarian I am always amazed that she was 41 when this book was published and had been turned down so many times by publishers! 3y
Amiable @TiminCalifornia I‘m pretty sure I still my ‘80s-era copy that has that exact cover! 😀 3y

Judy Blume. Funny these are still on my shelves. I actually didn‘t like Otherwise Known As Sheila the Great. Then Again Maybe I Won‘t left me confused and angry. Took me a long time to figure out why.

This thin pamphlet must have been a novelty gift from the Milwaukee Optical Manufacturing Company decades ago. There are no author or picture credits. As a child I loved looking at the pictures and reading other countries‘ Christmas traditions.

This is the book that made me want to live in a city. Also I remembered the acronym ISAAC forever. The Independent Saturday Afternoon Adventure Club.

First epistolary and to this day I don‘t think I have read a book comprised of letters or journals I didn‘t like. Even if the premise doesn‘t sound particularly interesting, I‘ll add an epistolary novel to my TBR stack!
