50 Shades of Grey meets the mafia is the best way to describe this book. There is darkness to this story, but there is also lighthearted banter and two people who desperately need each other in their lives. I fell in love with the main characters immediately and they held onto my heart all the way through. Highly recommend.

valeriegeary My local indie bookseller was singing his praises to me the other day! Want to read this one soon! 5y
toofondofbooks I haven't read this but have read both Swan Song and Boy's Life this year and they were both 5 star reads for me. And I'm really stingy with my 5 stars lol 5y
Reggie I liked this but I had a big problem with it. One I think you‘ll see when you get to the end, maybe not. Other than the one big problem, I thought it was great. He‘s a great writer and this book still pulled my heart strings. Hope u like it!!! 5y
MStew @Reggie oooooooooooo sounds interesting I wanna find the problem now 😂 thanks for heads up 5y

I‘m about to finish listening to “Daisy Jones & the Six” on audio (which is fantastic, by the way).

What should I listen to next?
Tag something NEW or kind-of obscure (otherwise, it‘s likely I‘ve read it already). Hint: don‘t tag anything by Proust. 😅

Thanks! 🙏🏻

Ashley_Nicoletto I‘m just finishing up this one on audio and I‘m loving it. It has multiple narrators, but it works. 5y
sprainedbrain I loved this one on audio, if you‘re feeling like some historical-fiction-fantasy with a lovely Scottish accent. 5y
EmilyM If you like YA, Sadie is excellent on audio. It has a full cast. 5y

Pickpick

It‘s about a kidnapping set during the early 1930‘s in New Orleans in the middle of the Great Depression. Two con artists find each other. A young black man with an extraordinary gift hears a cry for help. McCammon will surprise you with how a simple sentence or a paragraph, about a keen observation of his character‘s world that will heavily invest you into all of their outcomes. This was just a special book to me. Pick!!!

DivineDiana Once again, with just a few words, you have caused me to want to read this book! ❤️ 6y
TNbookworm I love Robert McCammon! I have not read this one so thanks for the recommendation! 6y

I am 39 now but ever since I was 16 and read A Boy‘s Life and Gone South, I have loved you and your books. I am reading The Listener now and am still surprised out how compassionately you write towards all humans. How you are still able to reach into me, gently squeeze my heart, and make me cry. Thank you, Robert.

RadicalReader @Reggie so ultimately crazily creepy 6y

Enjoying this gritty look at a woman grappling with supernatural events while trying to break free of her stagnant Appalachian small town. My only caveat is that the back cover copy does not completely prepare the reader for the intense plot & raw prose. #gritty #vivid #supernatural

tammysue My library doesn‘t have this in their system but I found it on Kindle Unlimited which I downloaded. Can‘t wait to read for #Spooktober! 6y
SomedayAlmost There‘s a lot going on in the backwoods, and most of it isn‘t good! If you can look past the cursing to the curses, it‘s a good ride... 6y
